I think it'd be fine if she didn't love him when she was the god of war and the same goes for SF not loving her originally. Romantic love is not a prerequisite for self-sacrifice.
It could've simply been that he knew he had to step in because he saw the injustice she endured. He also knew that if she reincarnated and her fury/hostility wasn't appeased, she would eventually be the one to suffer the most if she returned after her 10th life as a demon and wreaked havoc among the three realms. In the end she would've been the one punished even though she was the victim (seems punishing victims is always the theme).

LL is probably one of the most realistic portrayals of victims with PTSD that I've seen in Chinese dramas lately. What she went through isn't something she can just "get over" and I appreciate that it's taking time for her to recover.

XYH loves SF but I don't think it's a romantic love. To me, it feels like the love a pet has to her master and vice versa.

Not MY for me. All because of his little thought at the very end of ep 44 when he was thinking about what SF said about them breaking their word and watching as HC killed Lizi Palace disciples. MY was justifying HC's actions. You can see he's conflicted but not enough to see that what they did was wrong.

Has the drama been pretty faithful to the novel?

There's 15 episodes left but I'm scared it might be rushed...

Hopefully this drama is big enough in China that it would warrant the re-release of the full 73 episodes.

The flow of the drama seems pretty good and fast paced so it makes me curious as to what they had to trim down to go from the original 73 to the current 59 episodes.

I hate that everyone turned against SF so quickly when he's constantly sacrificed himself for the other 4 clans. Especially when he transformed just to save everyone from his dad but as soon as the cultivators got free they turned around and attacked SF and his father.
It was hard to see how much SF is suffering. The battle between SF and XJ was suppose to be one-on-one yet the humans were the first ones to break that order because of HC. Then when SF came out to avenge his fallen disciples no human cared to listen to reason just because they were demons. They forget that SF could've easily have killed them all while he had them trapped yet he chose not to. They would not and have not shown him that same kind of mercy. Everything good he ever did was erased as soon as it came out that he wasn't human...at this point, XJ doesn't even have the right to be angry that he kept it a secret because she's seeing first hand how cruel her people are to his.

Same with me for Ashes of Love. I read a comment that said Xu Feng was being too dramatic and needs to get over it...um, Jin Mi literally stabbed him in the back right through the heart. Xu Feng can remain hurt and angry as long as he wants. He had that right.

My one anger with LL was her comment about demons not having feelings and everyone in Lizi Palace wearing masks so nothing SF ever did was genuine. So much hatred and prejudiced based off the fact that demons were born different.

I was initially annoyed by her but I've come to love her. It's understandable that she treats XJ badly because she can see and feel how much SF does for XJ and how much it hurts him. It's not XJ's fault that she doesn't know what's going on and I think that makes the situation worse. XYH's loyalty to SF is commendable especially when SF won't care about himself.

HC's punishment better be awesome. None of that "forgiveness" crap. I want to see him squirm!!

I do appreciate that because it feels like touch is something very personal. The same is with XJ. Even from the beginning she never liberally touches or hugs anyone except for LL (not even Ming Yan). But right from the get-go she was super handsy with SF. It was one of the reasons why it was so obvious she liked him even though she didn't understand what love was.

At least it didn't end with a cliffhanger otherwise waiting a week would be that much harder.

I appreciate where the scriptwriter is trying to take LL's character. She's so broken because of what she experienced and I think it's a nice attempt to show how hard it is for battered women/men to overcome their trauma. Of course it doesn't help that those asshole disciples keep giving her a hard time. She's a victim, stop shaming her for something she had no control over. I'm just happy MY is sticking with her through it all.

Every time HC shows up I fast forward his scenes (unless they involve the main couple). Kudos to the actor for making me want to punch my screen every time I see him appear.

The worst part of watching 9 episodes early is having to wait a week to see the next 9.

At least Si Feng still has his friends around him during these hard times. They are probably the only ones keeping him from sinking into an abyss of sadness. But..poor Xiao Ying Hua. Her scene with Si Feng in 44 made me cry my eyes out. She's so loyal and genuinely loves SF. She's even willing to sever their bond so he can live.

I normally hate noble idiocy in the form of sacrifice, but I understand why SF is doing everything he is. Knowing the identity of MXS is bigger than just him trying to protect her. It involves everyone and the fate of the world and he knows that.
What I love about SF is that he finds his own truth and doesn't let the words of his elders sway him...unlike XJ. She tries to find her own truth as well but eventually cowers to the words of her father and HC.


It was so funny to see Wu Tong have to bow to Si Feng!!

Gotta find the comparison between XJ and SF in episode 39 kind of comical in a humorless way. XJ is getting drunk and mourning her relationship with SF but SF doesn't have the time to do that because his world is literally being turned upside down and he has to focus his energy elsewhere.

Tip: Watch 36 & 37 then take a 10 min break. Too heavy for the heart to take.

I can't help but hate the cultivator clans. Si Feng has done so much for them yet the minute they find out he's a demon they are on a war path to kill him. The same goes for LL. It infuriated me to hear her say that SF is a demon and demons have no feelings so everything was just a lie. Like WTF!! This is why Lizi Palace had to hide their true identities. They knew that they wouldn't be accepted and instead would be hunted down simply because of what they are. They can't help what they are born as.
