After decades probably of defending Sheng against Jing, it would totally be against set principles to start fighting his old comrades, most of whom would have fought by his side. Unlike YQY whose purpose for fighting is to protect the people, General Ye has always fought for the glory of Sheng, that's why it's going to be difficult for him to fight again, no matter the temptation of the position being offered to him. YQY could easily switch because he has a different purpose in fighting.
