One thing a sequel needs to be is, it should be able to meet the expectations. After all, there is a prior standards set. it is either needs to match it, or better it.
While other characters' story is a continuation from LBC, Tin-Can was remade.
Don't get me wrong, I was kinda looking forward to the "after" of their story in LBC. Their story here is somehow I'm in the middle. I am not all for it, I am not against it either.
I like Mean's character here more. Tin has more depth and rich (don't take it in the literal sense) backstory. Meanwhile, Can is more naive, gullible that kinda leaves a bitter taste to me.
The development of their story, together, is kinda hasten than LBC which is kinda understandable since they remake their story and in this sequel focus on them. But is it necessary? So far, I couldn't see the need to redo their story. What is so important that will happen in this sequel that how they left it in LBC will not be a logical continuation if they decided to pick it up where they left off?
We are nearing half of the series and so far, I couldn't see any logical reason to redo Tin-Can story. Considering Tum-Tar hasn't meet yet, physically. Kla-No is in limbo.
One up side for this sequel is Mai. LOL Pond wasn't wrong about Ae-Pete in LBC, is he right about Perth-Mai or Mai-Perth? LOLOLOLOL
First episode was okay, not good, not bad as well.
I am not really bothered by the transitions of scenes as it is still logical and didn't show how it moved from one to the next. It kinda saves airtime. Fast? Yes. But it is still in chronological order, there is even one scene that made a reference to a previous one. It actually focused on Ken, the achiever of the school. I won't be surprise as the story develops, it will show the sacrifices he will make. And what Shake needs to endure to get to the end. When that happens, then story is definitely a trope.
As how the main started, Ken and Shake, very typical of a BL. May it be Thai, Taiwanese or even Chinese. So nothing especial about how their relationship started. But what differs each of the BL's is how they overcome that and progress. The sweet nothings in between. And that is what I am looking forward to.
Yayo's acting is a bit strong for me for a support role. Over-acting in few moments. Jojit is spot on. How these 2 seasoned actors can support the main? That is what to watch out for. Hope they will not eat Enzo and Dawin acting-wise.
From Season 1, he is practically "useless" as the boy who couldn't sleep.
A body needs to sleep in order to regenerate, heal itself. So it suggests that Korn's potential is a Wolverine-like, thus can not be infected by Nyx-88.
It would make perfect sense why he leads the "Anti-Gifted" as he sees his gift as useless. ========================
As Yin Zi said regarding Grace's potential that she can sense danger, couple comments down.
If that is the case, the first medical check-up didn't involved Class XV, so they are safe. And Grace is safe based on the CT-scan as there is one that is different and not infected.
Why Korn wants to elimiate the latest Gifted class and keep Class XV relatively safe? Is he aware that he heals fast? So is it possible that he will offer his blood to cure Class XVI? Then becomes finally a hero.
I watched this because of Fiat and JJ. After watching Ep 2, darn! Marc and Win growing on me... And fast! I could see some angles of Marc as being Viking which I like.
But starting to feel that Waan-Pure will take the back burner, story wise and airtime. I hope this show finds a balance to show the 2 pairs.
I am too. This is Fiat's, if ever, first full-blown BL character and since I watched him in Grean Fictions, I am waiting for one. Yeah, there is SOTUS S, but it ended like more of a bromance. I will be really surprise if he will have a kissing scene with a guy. That will definitely a fine addition to the roles he played before.
And to be paired with my favorite between the twins. I'm all up for it!
From Dark Blue Kiss to Still 2gether, GMMTV is seems learning to spend time creating opening credits which is kinda relief as previous Thai and other countries' production uses clips from the series itself by cutting, splicing and just overlaying the names.
And sensing that there might be at least 1 BL couple. *finger crossed*
From the start, it seems that Marwin is bossing Tops around. But the latest episode, Win is becoming more and more... I couldn't say a word because it is going to be a spoiler.... Let's just say attentive to Tops' needs.
Both Marwin and Tops are evolving, and slowly. However, is this entire series will be full of sweet nothings? Or is it leading to a "WOW!" ending?
Either way, I really don't mind as I have a every other weekly does of Gameplay-Jeff.
Among the cast, Fiat is the most seasoned followed by JJ. That is so obvious when they deliver their respective lines.
As for Marc and Win who are relatively newcomers, I can see Marc has the edge over Win, acting-wise. Marc performance as an "antagonist" ni Blacklist is good. Unlike Win in "The Stranded" which I really having a hard time remembering character.
For chemistry, romantic or otherwise, it is expected that it can not be seen this early on as it only establishing the initial character's personality.
Going back to the seasoned actor. For so long, Fiat hasn't been given the right role to a breakthrough character. From Greanhouse to Slam Dance to SOTUS S to The Gifted to the A Gift to the People You Hate and this year The Gifted Graduation, you can see how different the roles he played, except for The Gifted but I think his character as Korn will evolved.
Between the twins, I am definitely for JJ. AJ facial features are more sharp and aggressive. With JJ, he is the softer side of the two and an infectious smile. That is why I am having a hard to time to digest the angry looks he have.
Gameboys just set the bar very high. The character development is superb. You can see they matured individually and as a couple. It has story from setting of plot, the rising, climax and the anti-climax. It has the right amount of conflict that didn’t drag Long, romantic excitement and the kiss! It has the passion, the emotion, the longing... All in one. I can’t remember the last time I watched something like that. I just wish that there were more skinship. But knowing that this was produced during a pandemic, they did an awesome job.
LOL I almost got Time's potential in my comment below. It is actually the present and not the future. LOL But I was right how Namtarn is related to Time as far as their potential is concern.
And my concern was right when I watched Blacklist that it feels like a substitute for The Gifted. Perhaps a "knock-off" is more appropriate word. But I will stick with substitute since The Gifted Graduation cannot be aired last year, hence, Blacklist.
Grace is a wildcard. I mean, the way she helped Time to get the Gifted Program back and when they meet by the…
Grace as next Wave, possible. Time as the next Punn, a leader, possible too.
Time+Grace will go head to head versus Pang-Wave. And Third will be trapped in the middle?
I really need to stop thinking of the what if's... LOL. I guess I enjoy it. It's like when it happens, I could say, "I KNEW IT!". Or if a twist happens, "I DIDN'T SEE THAT COMING".
Ad Astra Sapientiam: "To the start through wisdom"My take on the pilot episode of this sequel:
Grace is a wildcard. I mean, the way she helped Time to get the Gifted Program back and when they meet by the locker, she can swing either way. But trailer shows the she is gifted. So who's side will she take, I guess we all have to find out. Prim from Blacklist as Melon to Grace, I kinda like her character here more.
Third is clearly want the program back, and since he did not have the chance to try for it last year in their timeline, he ended up the next best thing: student inspector. And boy! He is getting comfortable in from of the camera.
I love that Ohm already shown how much his gift had improved.
Wave's boo-boo moment is cute, especially his reaction and how he recovered from it.
The class meeting in secret kinda reminds me of the movie where this series is a remake of. Now, is it possible that the director's gift in the movie is also the same in this series? Dang! Need to re-watch the movie! =============================== If you can view the comment I made about the previous season, I already said there that Ohm can make things disappear and somehow teleport it to a dimension(?).
Pang's gift is persuasion, like Allison of "The Umbrella Academy". Difference is though, he needs to touch a person first before the can persuade. Unlike Allison where she needs to say "I heard a rumor...".
The following, I WISH to see as the enhanced version of their respective gifts:
Pang to have a full mind control over a person.
Claire to read other people thoughts and not hues of colors based on their feelings.
Punn's can turn into the dark side of him, much like Beast of X-Men.
Wave... Since he can manipulate data on computers and those data are electronic in nature and the brain waves are electric charges, it would be nice if he can make other see illusions or projections.
Korn can not able to sleep and yet can still function normally. Hence, his body can "recharge" faster than a normal person. Is it possible that he is immortal or can heal fast much like Wolverine?
Mon's sweat makes people angry or violent. Would it be nice if she can control so she can make a selected person be in an violent mind?
For the twins, there are test in the real world that they have a psychic link. What one feels the other can. Similar to Season 1. Is it also possible that the enhance version of their gift is they can see each other's vision?
Since Namtarn is missing in action and her gift is when she touches an object she can see the past of the object... Will relate this to Time (Patrick). Is Time capable of time travel? Because why the very first scene shows a young Director Supot who is with Tay (I am guessing he is the young version of one he visited in the Ministry of Education). Or perhaps Time's gift is precognition, he can see the future.
There is still too little info about Grace and Third's to suggest their respective gifts.
You missed the "3 months ago" after the opening credits? Episode 1 has two timelines:
LBC might left out some important events between Tin-Can that is why a remake of their story is in placed that is important to show why in Ep 1, Tin-Can treatment to each other seemingly civil. Unlike how they ended up in LBC. What happened between the ending of LBC to right after the match is the missing link before they can move forward.
Just like 2 Moons where it only focus on Pha-Yo and the 2 other couples took the back seat. And when 2 Moons 2 came along, Ming-Kat sotry was tweak to accommodate what is to come.
You missed the "3 months ago" after the opening credits? Episode 1 has two timelines:
First timeline, after LBC, is when they lose the soccer game, Can cried on Tin and Ae reminiscing the past.
The second timeline is starting after the opening credits when Can is just waking up and already late for school. And their interaction, with Tin, happened 3 months ago. That is why they didn't know each other. And looks like the remade the meeting for the first time.
