This drama is based of the novel of the same name. It is not an idol drama. It about NM determination to reach her dreams despite all the obstacles. The 2nd FL left. She treats LJM as a brother because their chance has passed. The 2nd ML truly loves and cares for NM and yes she is trying to commit to their relationship but unfortunately the damaged from being betrayed by his first love left severe scars on him that will impact how he handles his jealousy of LJM. He has split personality disorder. Because of his jealously. 2nd ML and NM best friend bf will team up to bring down LJM fathers company to make money & take down LJM. His first love cheated on him for a rich 2nd generation so he feels LJM is another rich 2nd generation trying to steal NM away. In the process LJM tries to help his father but fails. His father loses his company, has a stroke and dies. LJM goes bankrupt and goes through depression loosing everything. NM will help him rebuild a new company together and bring down 2nd ML and the others because her best friends bf cheats on her and gets another woman pregnant and leaves her. Her best friend commited suicide in the novel. I don't think she will in the drama. 2nd ML does slap NM once but after that he doesn't hit her again. She does break up with him because of that incident. They've made subtle changes here and there. The novel is over 100 chapters and the drama is 32 episodes. LJM & NM are aware of the feelings they have for one another but do get together until the end when her proposes and calls her director ning. The story is about both of their growth together.

Please Call Me Director is a story that takes ordinary little people as the starting point and tells the perplexity that a woman in the workplace encounters in her growth, and finally breaks her cocoon into a butterfly and gains career and love. It is inspirational and full of fun. As an audience, I am able to empathize with Ning Meng, I also feel that the drama is very watchable, and it is a very good work. The pacing and adaptation has been fantastic. Turning over 100 chapters into 32 episodes yet still keeping the key points. The last 12 episodes will be full of twist and turns.

I watched it on Weibo but in TSY's music video. There is a scene where LJM tells her I have something to tell you and she tells him to say it directly. After that he tells her he likes her which will be episode 22.
