He was the absolute worse. I cannot describe how bad - he made my skin CRAWL. He didn’t die in the end, the end was kinda open - he was alone and mad tho like not a happy end but not as satisfyingly bad as I would wanna see. That drama had peak romance and fantastic leads but we were ROBBED with the editing of that show from a masterpiece
Can someone tell me what the heck this drama is about because I can't decode the synopsis. Also, would love some spoilers! Who's the main couple? I'm used to it being the first two actors listed but comments make it seem like JING is the ML? Also what's this about a somewhat open ending?
every drama thats been adapted from a novel this genius author after my own heart has written has become an obsession that's trapped me in an infinite abyss and formed the very soul I live with, and I truly hope the trend continues with this one. most of all, I hope this drama faithfully portrays how incredibly awesome this author's FLs are bc its the root of why her dramas become my favourite.
I absolutely love the FL. She's funny, smart, clever, persistent, and follows her convictions fearlessly. She's capable, and has an appreciation for beautiful women. I LOVE her. I love the ML, of course, as he's written as a manifestation of all my desires and is played by a man whose smile is my kryptonite.
HOWEVER....this show ultimately suffered from really bad pacing and underwhelming plot progression. Halfway through (like ep 14/15), I was thinking about how much I enjoyed interactions between the leads and therefore how starkly felt their absence was. They had so little to substantially develop their relationship for so long into the drama despite their dynamic being the biggest draw of the show.
So little happened and yet somehow too much happened. The drama would give me glimpses of things that I adored or things I wish it would focus on, and then go a different way. The premise and the potential of it all was so good! I liked it, but by episode 30 my interest had severely waned and I was left with the knowledge that I could've LOVED it
One gives a 5.5, the other gives a 10. Go figure...
The "rewatch value" really brought down the overall score on the review. if rewatch value doesnt weigh heavily for you, their review is an 8.5 instead of 5.5!
I'm considering watching this - can someone tell me what they thought of the FL UPDATE: im only on ep 5 but def dont trust the haters, the FL is FANTASTIC. she's smart, funny, can fight, the script allows her to come up with ideas to get herself out of trouble, shes capable and I wanna be her friend, and shes so damn pretty. her character also has the bearing of someone who grew up well loved in the palace
I support sex workers, as in I think often sex workers are unfairly stigmatized for doing what they can to survive. The industry though is exploitative, and consent is always dubious with the power imbalance of money and needing it to literally exist when we live in societies where it costs money to just BREATHE. I want to repeat - your personal anecdotes of "oh I know this person and they WANT to have sex for money!" aside, as an industry, you CANNOT have true, clear , explicit consent when money is so necessary to live, and when often vulnerable women are pushed into this work. So I DO think badly of people who engage in this exploitative industry by procuring services of sex workers especially on platforms that don't give workers control (so a prostitute vs someone who creates content on OnlyFans). Especially in countries where its fully illegal, meaning these women have NO protection, powerful men are able to dehumanize and exploit them with free ease.
This guy was rich as hell, powerful, famous - and he scammed these women by paying them less than they asked for, and they had no recourse because they're not legally protected. Come on, people defending him and blaming everything on CCP are bizarre and have American rot in their brains. He reaped what he sowed. The whataboutism is also insane - yeah there are high ranking rapists in all governments across countries, and they suck and I wish them all the ill in the world, but it doesnt exonerate this guy? Anyways, him having been good friends (good enough to go to his bday party) with Seung Ri is also.... yikes. Like pics of American celebrities cozying up next to Epstein. Yikes.
É um bom drama. Mas por gosto pessoal, eu esperava mais do final. Eu diria que fiquei com uma sensação de ser…
hey I can't understand a word u said but I just wanna refute the other person who commented - FORGET THEM. keep speaking in whatever language you want! demanding everyone speak English is soooo bizarre and very colonial thinking lmfao
This man is lethal. Absolutely devastating. Should be Prohibited Goods. Threat to national security. His mischievous smile has sent at least one person (me) into immediate heart failure.
A god damn masterpiece. Seriously, this is one of the most romantic stories I've ever experienced in my life. No bullshit, just pure, unadulterated romance.
this author has me in a chokehold and always writes compelling, nuanced FLs who make me sob with gratitude. im setting up a shrine for her and begging the people working on the drama to do it justice
