Riveting story & sweet romance

I skipped over this drama due to the synopsis and the length of the drama and I’m kicking myself for that! It’s such a good drama!
The story is very deep and interesting. There’s political intrigue, cute side couples, romance, comedy, and great fight scenes. It has a little of everything.
The first part of the drama fills us in on the main characters lives growing up and sets the stage for the rest of the drama. It sounds boring but it’s really very interesting. The second part of the drama brings the main leads together and highlights their romance. The third part of the drama is filled with political intrigue along with more romance and side couples.
I like that this drama has a male lead that is very dedicated to the female lead and always has her back no matter what. And his obsession with wanting the female lead to get jealous or possessive over him is adorable to watch.
Don’t let the length of this drama hold you back. It’s really good and is one of the rare dramas that I have rewatched

For a long time I stayed away from this drama due to its length. I’m so glad I finally decided to watch it because it was awesome! Even though it’s a melodrama it’s very balanced. There’s just the right amount of romance, sadness, happiness, angst, and intrigue. Even though it has a love triangle it’s not drawn out for too long and the side couples were super cute.

The story:
It’s basically the story about a young man who lost his father when he was graduating college. He’s suddenly thrown into the corporate world running his fathers large and successful business. He was lied to and cheated by those closest to his family so he starts having trust issues. He then meets the female lead who is super sweet and is devastated to find out she’s dying. They have a whirlwind romance while they are both on vacation. But when he returns home and finds out that the female leads story about dying of cancer was a lie and that everything that happened to them on the island where they met was a lie, he’s furious. To make matters worse, they end up having to work together and he repeatedly takes revenge on her. After a lot of misunderstandings the truth comes out that the female lead was such a workaholic that her family lied to her about her dying just to get her to take a break and go on vacation. He feels terrible about his behavior and becomes this sweet charming guy that’s impossible to resist. I love how dedicated and loyal he is to her throughout the drama. He never waivers in his support of her.

The romance:
The romance in this drama is pretty spicy. The shower scene between the main leads was the steamiest scene I’ve ever watched in an Asian drama. I’ve seen individual shower scenes but never one with two people together making out in a shower. And the way the male lead likes to bite and tug at the female leads lips while he kisses her is just so sexy. I also like that we get to see the main leads beyond just getting together and dating. We see them in their married life and beyond which is nice.

The acting:
There’s some really good acting in this drama. I loved everyone. They all had me into their characters and their storylines. The side characters were so charming, especially the sweet little grandma. I also loved the the female leads father that was so loving and supportive of her. But the female leads relationship with her little sister was just so touching and gave me all types of feels. There are also multiple couples that each have their own interesting storylines so the drama never gets draggy. The male leads sister and her romance woes was so realistic and relatable too.

If I had a complaint it would be that it gets a little melodramatic and cheesy sometimes but since this is a melodrama that’s to be expected. And the length is way longer than anything I’ve ever watched but honestly, it was so good I’ve rewatched it. The romance of the main leads is just so amazing that I can’t help but go back and relive it. I would say if you’re sitting on the fence with this one then just take a leap and watch it. You won’t regrets it.

Not your typical Thai drama

When I first saw this dramas description I skipped over it. How could a person go from marrying the love of their life to sleeping with a total stranger all in the same day? I didn’t think I’d like their characters much. But thankfully the glowing reviews made me give it a try and I’m so glad I did. Once you start watching the drama it all makes sense. Let me explain.

The female lead (May) and the male lead (Kade) are getting married to other people on the same day. Then their fiancé’s abandon them and run off together. May is terribly upset, not because of a deep passionate love, but because of the betrayal. She has PTSD from a past trauma and doesn’t trust men. And since her childhood friend is the only man she’s ever trusted and she doesn’t think she could ever trust another man, she agrees to marry him. So his betraying her and leaving without a word hurts her deeply. Kade on the other hand, wasn’t even dating the woman he was marrying. He had a crush on her when they were younger but now he sees her as a little sister. But when he finds out she’s pregnant (by her ex boyfriend) and not in a good place mentally, he offers to marry her in order to protect her. So both leads aren’t in love with their fiancé’s, but they are hurt by the way they were treated. And when they meet the sparks fly! Boy do they have chemistry!

Even though this drama does have a couple of the typical Thai drama slap and kiss scenes in the beginning, it’s quite different from most Thai dramas. The male lead is very sweet and totally devoted to the female lead. Even though he is rich, he is never rough or forceful with her and treats her with respect. He’s not a womanizer or an arrogant jerk either. And the female lead is not your typical weak female that cries all of the time and is dirt poor. She is wealthy, strong, independent and sassy. And their wardrobe is stunning! I loved seeing these two independent headstrong individuals clash. They have amazing character growth as they learn how to love and trust again.

The romance is done perfectly here. It’s not insta love but it’s definitely insta attraction and they sizzle together. He accepts the attraction and immediately pursues her. But she’s in denial and has trust issues to overcome. Be prepared for lots of hugs, kisses, hand holding, and flirting. I really liked how natural and realistic their relationship was.

The storyline was really good. There’s lots of twists and turns. Even though you can figure out who the bad guy is pretty quickly, the journey along the way is interesting. There’s kidnappings, car chases, sabotage, lots of fight scenes, and hidden identities to keep things fast paced. I was never bored. It has an original plot, great actors, and charming side characters. There are multiple couples that were pretty interesting with great stories of their own. There’s no second lead syndrome and no true love triangles.

Overall I would highly recommend this drama. It was one of the best Thai dramas that I’ve watched. I love male leads that are kind snd sweet instead of those typical arrogant CEO’s most dramas have. And I like a woman that is strong and confident. And all of the side characters are great. If there was any negative I would have to say it would be that the female lead teases the male lead for too long. She knows how she feels about him but refuses to admit it to him. She eventually admits that she just really enjoys teasing him because his reactions are so cute. But her eventual confession is dragged out for way too long. And it does get a little cheesy sometimes, but what romance drama doesn’t? It’s not a perfect drama but it comes pretty darn close.
Don’t miss this gem!

The story is quite original. The ML is a goblin. A goblin is like a god with extraordinary powers. I really expected that he would lose his powers at some point in the drama as this always happens in dramas with someone that has powers. But this drama didn’t do that. It was completely original throughout the drama and never followed the normal drama storylines that I get so tired of. I liked that there were no love triangles, no constant misunderstandings between the main leads, no repetitive makeup and breakups, no conniving family members, or any of the other typical issues that pop up in most dramas. This drama is completely original in everything which is what makes it so refreshing. It has a little bit of everything; romance, mystery, intrigue, fantasy, comedy, sadness and happiness. The side characters are absolutely awesome and really add to the charm of the drama. It’s originality, amazing acting, and superb special effects make it stand out. I’ve watched hundreds of dramas including Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Taiwanese dramas. But this one remains in my top ten. There’s really nothing bad to say about this drama. Just go and watch it!

Finally a drama that lives up to its hype!

I’ve watched tons of dramas including Korean, Chinese, Taiwanese, Japanese, etc. I like all types of dramas. But I prefer a drama that has it all; romance, unique storyline, character growth, comedy, and suspense. It’s rare that I find a drama that has all of the things I’m looking for but this is one of them.

Story:
The story is quite unique. What would happen if a South Korean accidentally landed in North Korea? Not only do we get a look into what it might be like to live in North Korea, we also get to see some really gorgeous men in uniform. The story has lots of twists and turns so there’s never a dull moment. All of the scenarios are quite realistic and believable which helps the audience to really immerse themselves into the drama. And the romance moves at a normal pace. It doesn’t overwhelm the drama or become overly cheesy but it’s always there as a driving force behind the main leads actions. The drama is quite funny at times too. I loved the balance of romance, comedy, political intrigue, and suspense.

Cinematography:
We get lots of breathtaking scenery. I really enjoyed the rolling hills, the lush foliage of the forest, the quaint little villages, the scenic train rides, the campfires, and the picnics. They put a lot into the production of this drama. And when the FL is flying through the air paragliding, they did a great job of making you feel like you were right there with her. The cinematography was top notch.

Acting:
This was one of those rare dramas where I don’t have a complaint about one of the actors. Usually someone is a little wooden and stiff or they overdo it, but not in this drama. They all did a great job, especially the main leads. I rarely cry at movies or dramas but the acting was so good in this one I cried twice. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a sad drama, but the few sad parts they have really got to me.

Overall:
My overall opinion is that this drama is excellent. It’s right up there with Goblin and the other really good dramas. It’s already breaking viewership ratings and will definitely get lots of awards. Don’t miss this drama.

Don’t let the crazy sounding storyline hold you back from this gem!

When I first read the storyline I skipped over this drama. It sounded too unbelievable and ridiculous. Thankfully the great reviews brought me back and made me decide to give it a try. I’m so glad I didn’t miss this gem!

The storyline may seem a bit far fetched at first glance. But the drama takes its time developing the story in a way that makes it more believable and understandable. The two issues that most people have with the drama are the ML leaving his wife and the surrogate storyline. So I’ll address these issues first.

I thought I wouldn’t agree with the ML leaving his wife but after seeing what she put him through with all of her lies I completely agree with his decision. Finding out your spouse has been lying to you throughout your whole married life is devastating. A relationship can’t flourish on a foundation of lies. Her actions made him feel like she wanted him for his money. And his pain upon the demise of his marriage was so touching and realistic.

As for the surrogate storyline, neither of the two families are keen on the idea at first, in fact, both sides are appalled at the idea. That type of reaction made things seem more realistic. So when certain circumstances eventually force the families to go ahead with the surrogate idea it was easier to understand their decision. Also, I have no problem understanding why the ML’s mother wants her only son and heir to give her a grandchild to inherit their family’s fortune, especially considering his age and disposition. The romance develops at a reasonable pace and all of the side characters are very interesting. The comedy is just right, not too much or too little.

Acting:
The acting was above average for the main cast. I have nothing bad to say about them. It took me a while to warm up to the ML’s former mother in law. She overacted her parts a bit and I got tired of her screechy voice. Some of the other side characters were a bit too over the top with their acting. But the main cast were superb.

Overall impressions:
This is one of the best Thai dramas I’ve ever seen. I like all kinds of dramas. I’ve seen hundreds of Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and Taiwanese dramas. But this was one of the sweetest, lightest, easiest to watch Thai dramas I’ve had the pleasure of watching. The story was deep enough to keep the interest going without going too far with the angst or sadness. It is a light sweet romance with a little bit of angst, drama, and comedy on the side. I would definitely recommend it.
