To me he is the most selfless towards XY (minus the torture). The way he sacrificed for her again and again is so deep and complicated. For them no words was needed, he knew, she knew. Argh... this is so sad.

Yao asked Grandpa about 2 men indirectly (one who is engaged, one an enemy) - and these 2 were the ones who drank her blood for healing... and what grandpa said was true... Liu put Yao up for trade to Jing in exchange of sending provisions to army. And Jing for his grandma and the grandma set up and chose to marry.
