I understand why Koreans are concerned that the end of ep3 can start a new wave of dramas trying to up each other and going the lewd way of Hwood... We already have lots of scenes of guys in a shower, Dynamite Kiss pushed the envelope into bed, now FL almost doing a striptease,.... so what's next... I understand why Koreans are worried we are standing too close to the cliff edge of turning into Hwood cheap.....

Also, I think they complained about "male gazing" which is very sexist. To be fair, he wasnt looking at her, he was just in shock and I bet he was thinking if she is gonna take it against him and fire him. But based on his history of dreaming of her, making comments about her finger, and "in his day going through 10 boxes", chances are - he will be haunted by what he saw, esp since HER EYES were totally delighted to see him standing there. (This gives a totally new meeaning to Beatles song "When I saw you standing there...") lmao I think ... they are hooked now :)

Someone said they complained about the tag. Rom-com implies sexy, doesnt it?
I think the surprise is that the drama made the FL look like a Cruella Boss, then we found Joan of Arc/Mother Theresa layer ... and then.. out of blue... out of th left field... totally paradoxical.... Marylin Monroe layer LMAO But yeah ppl can have very paradoxical sides to them :)

I personally think that end of ep 3 was on the edge of acceptable, and it was cheesy, and to me it was made hilariously funny by the comments of the audience, who totally nailed it. Omg the comments are better than the drama in those scenes LMAO

I analyzed why the scene at the end of ep 3 was funny - bc it was so unexpected, bc the drama baited us to believe something else.. yet trained us to trust the drama :) So being so swindled was funny.... See https://mydramalist.com/793102-secret-gratitude#comment-26002982
(Hm why is the comment labeled as "secret gratitude"??? )

Also, notice the SOPHISTICATION of this wickedly funny humor and also very compassionate and revealing. The last scene in ep 3 is effective precisely bc we see only their faces. Hwood would destroy that scene by showing everything. Then all the mystery and the fun of seeing their faces very closely and for a long time and feeling compassion and comraderie with the characters would have been GONE.

This sophisticated humor is the trademark of kdramas, it is a certain elegance and intelligence, parody, satire, jestering, exposing difficult heavy serious issues with tact and compassion, that only kdramas have.

In any case, whoever thought of this script, is a mastermind manipulator and jester :) sooo familiar with people and how to play them and in that contrast, make it super funny and also super educational. A master storyteller :) And the director and camera and production and the actors are the same kind, on the same page, they totally understand the concept. VERY VERY VERY SKILLED TEAM.

RESPECT!!!!!

Exactly! Perfect Crown cleverly uses unfamiliar tropes, and uses familiar tropes in a refreshing way that doesn't leave you frustrated — it makes you think about the ongoing events and eagerly wait/root for the main couple.

To be honest, the criticisms surrounding this drama have been present since the very beginning. Had it not already been on my 2026 watchlist, I might have easily been swayed by the prevailing opinions. I’m glad I chose otherwise and continued watching on my own terms.

At first, it was the undeniable chemistry between the leads that drew me in. Yet, with each passing episode, it became clear, just as you pointed out, that the drama offers far more than what initially meets the eye. There is a richness in its nuance, a quiet layering of details that can easily go unnoticed. Only those with patience, or viewers who are particularly attentive and perceptive, will fully appreciate the subtle intricacies woven throughout the narrative.

I deliberately avoided comment sections and social media (especially x) last night, as there was an influx of complaints regarding the contract marriage revelation arc. Personally, I found that development both well-executed and perfectly timed. It arrived precisely when it needed to, rather than being reserved as a predictable, climactic device toward the end, as is often the case in similar dramas. Had it followed that conventional route, it might have felt tiresome. Instead, Perfect Crown subverts expectations, proving that it has far more to offer beyond familiar tropes.

Adding to this also there is a lot of criticism about Byeon woo seok’s acting. please watch ep 8 people. I literally…
Exactly!
And someone in the comments said that I-AN is quite open. Do they even know how he acts with Queen Mother, her father, the PM and other officials — he carries this sense of authority and finality. His true emotions are only expressed around the people he trusts and you can clearly see how he has started opening up to Huiju. And him, crying while holding Huiju infront of his aide and her sister-in-law further showcases the development and how far has been successful in removing the chains of suppression that he was tied with over the years by his father's strict and ruthless discipline.

Reading the comments, makes me enraged. This drama requires a certain level of patience and observation. And yes, it does need 16 episodes or atleast, 14 episodes — to make the world building, especially Huiju's role as a Grand Princess even more elaborate. But, other than that, it is not required — the drama has a fast pace, nuance and at times, metaphorical/visual representation of stating things. You need to watch carefully and understand things, rather than just coming and blabbering here.
And yes, I understand the script can be a bit overwhelming with so many events — but the suspense and romance it builds is the dopamine that keeps you addicted. And actually, there probably won't be a single villain, as per my analysis and observations. It will be atleast 2 and a maybe, a hidden or secret villian — I'm not stating this as a fact, but as a mere observation and result of connecting the dots.
If you can't appreciate something because of your lack of understanding, patience, observation and skills — look elsewhere, don't spoil everybody's mood.

I wouldn’t be surprised anymore if the person who tampered with Hui Ju’s car brakes was killed by Prince Ian.

Well, in story she is above than 18.so she is allowed to do that basically cause lot of explicit things things required to be 18+. And on the other hand what I see is more h**ny things are written by teenagers, especially from 15-18 ones. Go to wattpad, see how much kink and explicit things are on their, not even fictional characters they even do that to real figures in real world too.I'm not trying here to attack you sis. What I'm trying to tell is cause we say that 'you shouldn't be like this' that doesn't mean they gonna follow it. Plus, that's the age we get more hormonal.so if they safely explore this side of human nature, I think its kind of O.K. what I'm not okay with is those fanfiction. Man, those are real people, and if they read about that stuff and get to think someone out there imagine to do these things to me,man, I couldn't wrapped my head aroud it.gezz!

So? What’s the big deal? I don’t see any problem if Iju has a crush on her teacher. A teenager can have a crush on whoever she wants. Teenage life is like that. And it’s very normal. We’ve all been through it too. As long as she’s in high school and the teacher doesn’t have any feelings for her, there’s no problem with this storyline up to that point.....but i am agree with you in the BL points

Her BL is very harmless so far, they don't even kiss, but they make up for it with funny dialogues.

Isn't it what inspires the fanfics? The writers see beautiful or attractive people and start fantasising about them. The whole point of BL fanfics is to let your imagination go crazy cause you are anonymous. How can this show about BL fanfics be funny without showing what fanfic writing is?

Not sure all teachers would be against writing a BL
good natured teachers don’t stunt their students’ creativity unless it is actually harmful, and hers is barely even “omono, what if someone sees us flirt” level stuff. She says herself this isn’t even a 15+ rated one—in other words, this is suitable, by SK’s very conservative rating system (compared to Japan which rates quite a lot of very mature stuff at 13+), for middle schoolers. The one that WAS trying to be more adult naturally did not do well as it was being written by a cute wee school kid who had zero experience, straight or gay, to base anything from that would feel realistic whereas students fantasizing about teachers, even teachers together, is pretty normal even if her teacher’s response is comical which kind of lines up with him going to uni in the USA
it is exactly the kind of reaction western school teachers and especially liberal arts and science oriented university professors and students tend to have unless they are homophobic which he obviously isn’t, obviously.

Inching towards grooming
 so far, it’s just
lowkey bullying behavior, threatening a kid who is scared even if the threat is hollow (can’t be sure). Nothing wrong with a kid liking a teacher. It’s pretty normal for students to crush on teachers, even if it starts with an antagonistic relationship. It only becomes an issue if they show the teacher pursuing the student.

(Doctors was creepy to me for that reason even though their romance was not until she was an adult—it was creepy because she had a crush on him and expressed romantic feelings for him that he didn’t act on but clearly reciprocated emotionally, ughhh—that’s when my brain shouts run away and never turn back like you’ll turn to stone if you dare
Melancholia, a show far more loathed [cue the woman being older and noona romance-hating people griping on here about her being too ugly for the hot young male lead!], actually felt far less eerie because even though a scandal was created by others, jealous others, about them, they genuinely were just two people crazy about math and she brought him back from a place of hating it to a place of loving it again without crossing the line—it created hardship for her and her fiance, though, and romance happened years down the road when he was a visiting elite teacher who’d established his name in that professional world).

I’m curious about what made them even consider this a “romantic” anything—so far it is just straight up comedy with a tiny tiny bit of social commentary which is what I love about it. I don’t think, for something only 8 hours long, it makes sense to have romance for the FL unless with a student who thinks it is cool that she writes it which would be the best outcome (not the romance but acceptance from peers that will basically make any threats from the teacher become far less powerful as she is more scared of her straight and straight-laced acting “why not a straight couple cause I am straight, wahhhh” best friend).

The main thing she needs is to actually know people around her like her work, ideally people who are cool friend material. She is pretty shy which is true of most writers I know when they first start writing—they write largely because they have a lot to say but don’t actually say it verbally
abut half or so get much better at speaking with time, but to a large extent, the pen is their sword and the paper their shield—they fight/say their piece with the pen but hide themselves behind paper. She seems to be in that situation.
