i think when the first murder happened ML's dad was still in the US

i feel similar; i don't think chemistry is the issue but storytelling is.. there was no romance brewing so there could not be that sxual tension.. so confession feels abrupt

You clearly have deep rooted biases, otherwise you would not be buying the other side of the story too if your problem were tabloid.. who used it first.. :) .. genuinely, this isn't about he or she... you need to take an objective view of what you know and be logical about it..
Once you do that, you will be able to atleast form an opinion - this way or that, which can be extended the courtsey of being called an opinion..

god, this drama is keeping me on my toes.. no where closer to guessing who is who
