i think the money mostly went to the extras and martial arts choreographers. i noticed since the beginning that there really were a lot of disciples and that prob cost a lot of money considering the costumes and also the choreographers prob had a lot to since this is a martial arts drama
alsooo i think we are just not used to chengyi in this kind of setting like those love game in eastern fantasy vibes cause i personally couldnt imagine him before in a bright setting but here he is and still spitting blood haha
but yes its true about the less effort in production and promotion cause ive noticed this long ago especially for big stars cause they heavily rely on the fans esp to do the promotion for them

real. idk if mlc and jol was low budget but its what i thought when i watched them for the 1st time (ended up rewatching a lot of times 😆) thats why im so so so surprised about how good the dramas were!! like i had no expectations and boogsh they just made the best dramas ever!! hope joy of life 3 airs soon and hopefully mysterious lotus casebook 2 too ❤️

personally recommending to try watching yesterday and todays episodes first to see if it suits your taste 😊 also its better to always have low expectations for dramas cause it high expectations always ruins it esp if its not what you anticipated
