for sure. if they marketed it as a romcom i wouldn't even be watching this HAHA. this is idol-drama fare i guess - always slipping romance in whenever they can - so boringg. Yes, these people treat the audience as stupid and the vast majority of the audience are, no offense. Like attracts like. These are the ppl who believe every PR rumor and are interested only in "shipping" strangers. The first ep of this drama on YT already had tons of comments praising it and it was like i watched a completely different drama from them. The ratings on this site are always super high for mediocre idol dramas I've actually started avoiding anything rated more than 8.5, cos i know it's gonna be bad. LOL

I find that alot of cdramas are like that though. Market it as female centric n feminist but you’ll spend 40 eps watching the FL get saved by the ML all the time.

I didnt enjoy the first ep of this drama, the plot n scenes had no flow and zhou ye is NOT believable as a general no matter how much armour they put on her. She just doesnt have the presence, the gravitas or the physicality. Nada. Theres only so much of suspension of belief im willing to do. Cheng leis expressions remind me of his MJTY character. A snoozefest so far given the massive hype, maybe it will improve 🤷‍♀️

Well said! I dont spend time here much at all because of the absolute echo chamber wheeevee one goes on the site. And fake ratings - 9 to 10 stars for every mediocre iidol drama out there. This place used to have very eloquent and fair users who could critque dramas well, are now a rare breed

Legend of the female general is such a nth burger. Fails to live up to the insane marketing n hype. First chpt was meh. No chemistry between the leads either and neither are strong actors. Zhou ye is compeltelt unbelievable as a general - seriously the men around her never suspected she was a woman, not even once? Then her bro comes in with the general getup - different voice, height, gait n the characters take them as the same ppl? So ridiculous. Will watch to see if it gets better but highly doubt

I felt the writers or whoever knew there was nothing in the plot n put in all the kisses and used that to market the show. I found none of the scenes romantic tho, both actors weren't very convincing for me and there was no chemistry. Im not sure why such a boring plot was greenlit. Also the general feel i get about the show is that its very low budget.

I agree with ur review!! Also a doctor/patient relationship just gave me the ick in general. I also didnt see any chemistry and found both actors too overly self-aware in their scenes, it's like u can see them counting in tje heads how to excute the choreography. The relationship was also super rushed. I didnt understand the basis for their mutual attraction, especially hers and felt that she should have been alone for awhile to heal. Lastly the plot was incredibly thin n bland af. The tcm bit was interesting yes but that's about it. Ig the investors knew how bland it was hence only the kiss scenes - which i didnt find swoony- were talked about.

Majority of people here only like superficial idol dramas from china with bad acting n plots or rom/romcoms from korea that arent great either. Those mediocre dramas will get a 10 here easily. This sort of reflective, meaningful ones rarely break past 9. I loved this drama, so much of heart n meaning n yes it cant be binged, more meant to be savoured.

Been saying this all the while! Legit one of the rare few dramas i actually want to see a romance between the leads. And where i can actually feel so much chemistry, rapport and tension, lots of repressed feelings. And i thought they were gonna kiss in ep 21 lol

You know i always find it incredibly ironic how we've supposedly progressed as a society but u still have shows like LR that garner so much of popularity and a huge following from women, who will not only defend it to their last breath, but criticise fellow women who are critical of such content. It perplexes me. And this website and kdrama/kpop circles in general are filled with people like that. It's one big reason i no longer care about kdramas.

Thanks. U basically just accurately and succinctly described what i disliked about LR and any drama like that. In my dearest at least the FL was simping material with her personality lol. And the ML had other things going on in his life so it was a proper romance.

Wow I loveee this Cdrama and am bingeing it in real time. Which I never do for any cdrama lmao. The ones i've binged were usually years after they aired (Scent of time, Rise of the Phoenixes, Princess WeiYoung, Imperial Doctress, Yanxi Palace) with huge gaps of pauses in between, all other cdramas i've dropped halfway or early on.

Really like how the plot is going, but episode 18/19 is giving me head scratching feels with the sudden betrayal of people around her. Interested to see where this goes but I hope it doesn't disintegrate. The writing for the leads, the acting, the plot, the various characters etc have been really good for me so far. I'm just hoping that her and Yuan Shaocheng are just plotting something and going through with an act.

This is also a rare drama where I actually hope the leads have some romantic thing going on cos they do have chemistry and there's some sort of tension there, with both repressing so many feelings especially him. They are so so similar I hope they just keep working together. I love how both are so gray and flawed characters but are so bent on fighting for the underdog and bringing justice to them that I can't help but want to see them succeed. I like how the psychology concepts/visualisations are also accurate and onpoint, as a student of psychology i love seeing relatively accurate representations of our work in pop culture.

Same. I think she only gets roles because of the studio/agency she's in (same can be said of alot of china's actors/actresses). She just sucks the energy from the screen. In both KMLM and the Double, fans were raving abt her chemistry with her ML but sorry I saw none in both lol

Omg finally someone says what i think about the fl/wujinyan. Im puzzled she gets lead roles when shes just not a good actress. She played this role exactly the same as how she played her role in the double and yanxi palace. Exactly the same. No expressions, blank stares to denote obstinance and defiance. It didnt help that she had this and the double come out back to back and i couldnt see a single shred of difference between both roles and her portrayal of each. Just ugh. Bad acting annoys me

haha thanks but dont think i will try AOS again - too many other good things to watch! Yup and I agree - they dont make k-dramas like the past anymore. some gems still slip through but majority just arent that interesting.

Oh I watched AOS 1.. couldnt finish it, didnt start on 2 at all. minglan i dropped it some time back as well. I had the same issue you are having right now.. with Kdramas. Watched so many in 2023/2024 and only finished 2, dropped everything else. I'm abandoning it for good as nothing about their stories interest me anymore, especially once they started pandering so much to netflix and am venturing more into cdramas. Perhaps time for a short break!

Haha im watching alot of different ones: a dream of splendor, delicious romance, the double, chef hua, destined, meet yourself, a tale of rose, later i laugh, rational life. I always alternate amongst a few n drop dramas fast once i dislike it. What have u watched this year?

Yes this required someone with gravitas and quite badass. I had no idea what emotions she was trying to portray in alot of the scenes and found it confusing. have dropped this drama. YES!! omg im actually looking forward to the female general drama but im veryyy skeptical of her acting. Also nothing about her screams female general - I'm expecting someone quite world-weathered, has gravitas, tough, strategic and very physically strong. She gives none of that and is so skinny with a baby-ish face. I dont know.. we shall see.
