Interesting drama so far! The preview has me looking forward to the next episodes. Before I’m asked. Yes, I’m…
Where did you get the Korean subtitles to make the machine translation subs? I agree with you about the context of the scene. I don't see it in usual places yet. They will appear, for sure, in a few days. But I don't want to wait.
It's not the FL's mother who survived. It was her adoptive mother, a former nun from the orphanage. The girl was found by some hikers, then she lived in an orphanage. She showed psychopathic/sociopathic tendencies, so the psychiatrist tried to put her in the special facility. But the nun thought the girl was a good person, she was fond of the child, so she stopped being a nun, left the orphanage and adopted the FL. She was the first adult person who cared about the FL and thought she was good. Now she has Alzheimer's (and the actress had cancer and died during the shootings or soon after it, it was her real sickly look).
Her father is a narcissist who thought about his daughter as his extension, basically a part of his body. So he wanted her to be his successor and to continue murdering people, but also to be under his control all the time, he was a control freak. The FL said something like this during the first police press conference. Blue buckets were for cleaning bodies and storing body parts. He took out internal organs.
He "loves" his daughter and he wants her to be like him.
His is a narcissist and sees his biological daughter as his extension/continuation. basically a part of his own body. Many such cases. Not many of those people are serial killers though.
Man this made in korea is such a huge budget drama for someone like Disney ,I just hope they don't end up getting…
Disney+ has been famous by its expensive shows nobody watches. It's true for American shows, like Marvel or Star Wars ones ($150-200-300M for a season). Maybe it's some money laundromat going, I don't know.
Can anyone please summarize ep14 , ep15. That would be helpful
1. Eun-seo tried to run away with the FL lead (as a child), but Yun Jo-Kyun, AKA Choi Min-guk (Park Yong Woo's character) caught up with them near some cliff. He pushed the "unni," she hit her head, but could protect herself and her stepsister and push Yun Jo-Kyun down the cliff. She tried to call for help, but the FL stopped her, because she didn't trust people (because her father taught her). Eun-seo allegedly succumbed to her head injuries as she was asking the FL to forgive her. It's unlikely she has survived.
2. After her press conference Seo Se Hyeon is kept in the hospital. There are a few days before her files going to prosecution. She was still a main suspect. Yun Jo-Kyun managed to visit her and blackmailed her with the murder of the girl, Se-eun, if she doesn't follow him. She kinda tried, but the police security detail startled them, so she stayed. The sleazy journalist saw Yun Jo-Kyun, followed him, but he was murdered.
3. Yun Ju-Kyun sealed Se-eun in the barrel and left somewhere in the forest. I wonder if the Chekhov's smart watch will work in the finale. He sent flowers to his daughter and noted her about the meeting point. He tried to get seats in the smuggling boat to China for both of them (and killed the smuggler). He also left Se-eun's school uniformed stained with blood (from different people) for the police to find.
4. The police basically was making a fuss, imitated some activity, tried to do something, but was generally incompetent and useless. At least they found the murderer's base of operations, because a granny in a small shop recognized Se-eun who bought some pastry/hamburger/bread. There was the journalist's dead body.
5. The police gave the found uniform to the NFS. The sleazy female doctor tried to put it aside to sabotage the investigation and the FL's fate, but the young female doctor blackmailed her with that sportsman's scandal, and she also found out the boss made some outside guy his successor instead of her. So they know the girl is sound and apparently safe. The FL tried to convince Jung Jeong Hyeon to let her help, but he refused and just asked to trust him again. She told him about her father's visit, and he only tightened her custody's regime instead. So the FL stole some pancuronium and escaped from the hospital.
"Made in Korea" isn't in the trailer "Coming soon in 2025" for some reason. Actually only "Low Life" (July 16) and "Tempest" (allegedly September) are. I get why there is no "The Manipulated" (they might not be sure they will be able to finish post-production this year) or "Knock Off" (obvious and predictable reasons). But the absence of "Made in Korea" in the list is confusing for me. Maybe it was for Q3, and the show is set for Q4. We'll see.
During the press conference the FL said she was undocumented. There wasn't literally any mentions of her birth.…
In episode 13 the woman told the policeYun Jo-Kyun, AKA Choi Min-guk (Park Yong Woo's character) used to leach off the woman he lived with. The witness mentioned her name was Jeong-mi. She said Jeong-mi find another man, Go Doo-sam, married him officially, and Go Doo-sam helped her in the bar. I guess, the bar was hers then.
idk if I missed this lol but can anyone let me know are seeun and eunseo half siblings or step? and also why did…
During the press conference the FL said she was undocumented. There wasn't literally any mentions of her birth. I guess her sudden appearance at school would raise uncomfortable questions to her father (or a "father," maybe the final twist will be about him not being her biological father too).
On other hand having a daughter, let alone being a single father whose partner allegedly ran away and ditched her kid, lifts some suspicions, makes people sympathetic, you could commit crimes and get away with it pretty easily.
Girls were stepsisters. The FL was allegedly the murderer's biological daughter, and her "unni" was a daughter of a bar owner the dude used to leach off.
What about the name change from The Confidence Man KR (like the Japanese original, but the Korean domain KR instead of the Japanese one) to Confidence Queen? I am afraid of Amazon Prime repeating mistakes they and the entire Hollywood have made in the US in last 5-10 years. Are they trying to make it another example of "a girlboss girlbossing" show? Because it didn't end well for Amazon's Rings of Power, Wheel of Time and so on. Those girlboss franchises bomb now.
The most attractive quality of trickster comedies and dramedies about scams or heists is teamwork and interaction between team members. Who does what thing? How do they treat each other? How do they rely on each other? Who is the weakest link and the team's vulnerability? Sometimes I would even call it "competence porno", because a viewer enjoys them meeting the challenges. Even the team recruiting became a bit of trope for the genre.
The show's premise makes an impression it's going to be exactly about this. But suddenly it's all about the Queen who is the One. That would be boring. I guess Amazon still hasn't learned its lesson despite Jennifer Salke, the Head of Amazon Studios and ideologist of those girlboss products, being replaced after seven years in the office. Anyway I had hopes for the show, but now I am wary.
Will it be a single season or 2-3 seasons, like Disney+ is going to divide Made in Korea into two parts and, let's be honest, Netflix has just done to so called season 2 and 3 of Squid Games? 22 episodes is too long for Netflix. I can see it as 2 seasons per 11 episodes (like Dear Hongrang) or as 3 seasons of 8, 7 and 7 episodes.
I didn't find this song, I literally wrote I couldn't find it. I just found there is a song named "Ti Vengo a Cercare" by Shorelle in the show's credits, it has an Italian name, so it's the only option. But I can't find the song itself. It's confusing, because some of the original show's soundtrack has already been released on YouTube and whatnot.
I am at the beginning of episode 10.So Eun Seo is Se Eun/Se Hyeon's elder sister (eonni)? What happened to her?…
We don't know it. But the father literally asked the FL, if she killed her sister. The FL answered she didn't know what had happened to her. Both main characters don't know.
The Park Yong Woo's song sounds Italian for me. For example, I hear words sounding like "primo," "amore" or "tu." There are some songs in the credits. I have found all of them except one, and nothing has been right. The only unfound song has an Italian name, "Ti Vengo A Cercare," (by Shorelle who is a K-pop singer and songwriter of Italian origin) which means "I'm Coming to Find You." I guess, it's the only option, I saw two songs with the similar names, Ti Vengo A Cercare and Et Ti Vengo A Cercare, but both were wrong.
I just completed epi 4 and I am wondering that if she knew that her father is the serial killer why she didn't…
She thought he was dead. There are hints she had tried to kill her father in childhood and thought she had succeeded. We haven't seen it in flashbacks even in episode 10 yet, but it was mentioned several times. She also was an accomplice of her father, or so she has been thinking all those years, so she can't reveal this truth about herself. Is it a right strategy? Probably no. But she was traumatized in her early age and doesn't think straight about those issues.
What retro-esque song plays in Park Yong Woo's scenes and in credits of episode 10? Shazam doesn't find it, and there seem to be some Italian words, e. g. "prima", "amor" and so on.
I forgot about this show being on Disney+. Considering Murky Water is set to be released this September, I guess Tempest is going to be released in October, Made in Korea in November and The Manipulated in December. It's disappointing.
