wow there's so much to unpack on episode 3 alone. i hope a time will come where all prejudice and discrimination didn't exist anymore. yes, the representation on media is thankfully becoming progressive now but irl it was entirely different, especially here in asia.
to be born different doesn't make you less. we all deserved to be treated equal and with respect.
So whats the general take on this one so far? I see mostly praise, then someone says its boring?
for the balance, it is in some ways have storytelling issues. characters are all pretty 1D. - a formulaic main leads with tragic backstory (with a little twist) - supporting characters merely a comical relief (as of episode 4)
also i will note, 4 episodes were already released but the world building was pretty much on the surface level. their fantasy world is not that distinctive enough for me. the setting and their world was still vague for me.
this drama feels like a high school drama set in a fantasy world. the heirs but fantasy.
I like it a lot.. the color, camera works, acting, effect, story pacing... but i just cant feel any chemistry…
i have the same sentiments. i found scenes of mu deok with the crown prince and yul more tensed and wishy romance. i found her relationship with uk purely master-student.
i believe this drama is still on the warm-up phase, i still have my reservations as i found the character writing very subpar. i still can't connect with any of the characters amidst the great performances by the actors. i think its just a thing of a preference, but it was always like this with any hong sister's drama. interesting premise, nice visuals, great ost but zero to less connection to the characters. if you've observed their past dramas, their character formulas are always the same.
I couldn't get into Ep 3. I've never had an issue with comedy in dramas before, in fact, I love it, but for this…
I also find the comedy jarring. It could have worked for me if it was real funny, but it wasn't. The comedy is just there to add personality to the characters and that was a bad writing for me.
I'm damn not hooked on this. Only thing I really liked are the two main actors and the funny situation about their…
yes, the pilot episode was really missing some nuance. and the bgm was just not it. but hella, the ending song was undeniably lit.
and personally as much as i like the two main actors, i can't see how their characters will fit into romance. i hope the writers will not pull off another forced romance just like what they did in hotel del luna.
