I noticed Terry Guo's resemblance to Jeremy Tsui while recently watching a new short drama. They're both handsome…
His facial features have definitely changed over the years (if you compare his roles from circa 2020 vs. current). As people age, it’s normal for facial bones to shift, and I suspect he may have had minor orthodontic work done to fix teeth alignment (as teeth move, so does the underlying bone structure that support the teeth). His face is definitely a lot slimmer and angular now than it was 6-8 years ago. His face was plumper and rounder back then (baby fat lol☺️). I wouldn’t be surprised if he also had minor cosmetic work done (like skin tightening or lifts, complexion bleaching, etc). Being in the entertainment business imposes impossible standards on these poor people, they have to maintain a youthful appearance in perpetuity (which sadly is a losing battle because we all succumb to time and gravity), and there will always be someone younger and prettier. All that to say, yes his face has changed; like fine wine getting better with age, he appears less boyish and more mature.
(I think Jeremy Tsui is definitely hotter now than his younger self, a perfect example of refinement with age)

Random question, does Zhi Chunhe have formal ballet training? I noticed at one point in the series she went en pointe (danced on her toes in ballet pointe shoes). At first I thought it was a body double, but there was one shot where she was facing the audience and she was clearly en pointe (people cannot go en pointe without years of formal training.. at least not safely).
Despite the warning, I gathered the courage to watch it. 😭😭 I have literally been crying for over 20 minutes…
Despite the sad theme, I felt this production was very well done. And like you said, the acting on both leads' part was exceptional (and perhaps because they are IRL couple, there was a certain genuineness in their portrayal), and I also agree, their last moments together was heartbreaking -- FL gathered what was left of her remaining strength to leave happy final memories for ML, and ML sense of helplessness and despair as he watched FL waste away and succumb to her illness. It very much reflects what it truly is to lose a loved one. And I may be a part of the unpopular minority, but I'm satisfied with the ending, where she actually does die (as opposed many similar story arcs where she either wakes up from a dream, or gets some kind of reset, or is reborn), and ML finally sees his beloved again after he dies himself many years later. I admit to being a sucker for tragic love stories.
If you feel up to braving it, there's another production exact same story (with small differences in details) starring Chen Si as ML and Lin Qiu Nai as FL; this one was enjoyable, but I enjoyed ZYW + BXY production more because the story flowed better, and ML's discovery of FL's illness was more natural and believable. Personally, the one with Chen Si felt a bit ridiculous to me (so much so, it makes me laugh.. which is the opposite of the intended effect). And, I didn't like the ending of that one (typical cop-out ending), but still a worthy watch just for the acting on both leads (and first time seeing Chen Si in costume drama).

I feel like this version had a more natural progression, and the dying process more believable. ML fulfilling FL's bucket list moments in her last days was bittersweet. You can really empathize with ML's sense of helplessness, watching his love waste away and nothing he can do about it, and the last 20 min or so takes you through the whole process of denial, bargaining, anger, depression, and finally acceptance. I also like how they portrayed the emptiness felt by ML being left behind; grieving and moving forward with life, and eventually maturing and meeting his own mortality (more implied in the show). I also think because they are IRL couple, the scenes felt very genuine and sincere. Storywise I think I prefer this one. 🥲 (And no chemotherapy bald cap in this one 😅😂)

I enjoyed this drama immensely. A heartfelt story, well acted, and not your typical historical/costume drama involving a royal harem.. no toxic cattiness, green tea rubbish. Also excited to see Chen Si branching out to costume dramas, hope to see more forthcoming.
Now I know this will make me sound like an absolute sociopath, but I could not help bursting out laughing with each scene they showed FL without hair and struggling with her wig. I know this was done to convey the gravity of her illness and impending death, but I work in the medical field, and as far as I know most diseases that cause hair loss are not fatal (in modern medicine, the reason why cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy lose hair, is from the chemo treatment, not cancer itself; I may be ignorant in the area of traditional Chinese medicine, but I don’t believe there are herbs or tinctures that cause hair loss). I know ML discovering FL’s illness by her wig is the plot device of how her illness is revealed to him. I’m probably nit picking this detail a bit too much, but for me, the overall tragic tone of the story was dampened by this detail (personally, I think it borders on absurd).. each time the story starts pulling at my heartstrings, and then her dome bare scalp pops up, I started cackling like a crazy person.. 😆🫠 The small detail notwithstanding, great drama. Recommend if you're looking for a tear jerker.

During an inspection tour, the Emperor brought back a time-traveling woman named Xinyue, who openly declared her desire to seize the Empress's position. I feel like this version had a more natural progression, and the dying process more believable. ML fulfilling FL's bucket list moments in her last days was bittersweet. You can really empathize with ML's sense of helplessness, watching his love waste away and nothing he can do about it, and the last 20 min or so takes you through the whole process of denial, bargaining, anger, depression, and finally acceptance. I also like how they portrayed the emptiness felt by ML being left behind; grieving and moving forward with life, and eventually maturing and meeting his own mortality (more implied in the show). I also think because they are IRL couple, the scenes felt very genuine and sincere.
Storywise I think I prefer this one. 🥲

I enjoyed this drama immensely. A heartfelt story, well acted, and not your typical historical/costume drama involving a royal harem.. no toxic cattiness, green tea rubbish. Also excited to see Chen Si branching out to costume dramas, hope to see more forthcoming.
Now I know this will make me sound like an absolute sociopath, but I could not help bursting out laughing with each scene they showed FL without hair and struggling with her wig. I know this was done to convey the gravity of her illness and impending death, but I work in the medical field, and as far as I know most diseases that cause hair loss are not fatal (in modern medicine, the reason why cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy lose hair, is from the chemo treatment, not cancer itself; I may be ignorant in the area of traditional Chinese medicine, but I don’t believe there are herbs or tinctures that cause hair loss).
I know ML discovering FL’s illness by her wig is the plot device of how her illness is revealed to him. I’m probably nit picking this detail a bit too much, but for me, the overall tragic tone of the story was dampened by this detail (personally, I think it borders on absurd).. each time the story starts pulling at my heartstrings, and then her dome bare scalp pops up, I started cackling like a crazy person.. 😆🫠
The small detail notwithstanding, great drama. Recommend if you're looking for a tear jerker.
