i felt like oom's side was explained well, she just like ai thought that grandma loved the other twin more and that they hated each other, so she was deeply insecure and finally felt like she could have someone love just her, and then she finds out that isn't the case with may. after the coma too she was justified, with her still thinking no one loves her and the guy who truly loved her being dead. i think people just got too comfortable with the concept of dating your sibling's ex that they forget that its not exactly morally right. at the end with her mentality of no one loving her, her ultimatum felt right for her state of mind.
p.s: just making sure to let u know im not attacking u, just trying to see diiferent povs cause i felt like this show tackled their themes a bit better and romance was properly built in my taste.
in my opinion, the filler scenes u mentioned feel like a good storytelling of may and ai falling in love. instead of it being a first love story, we slowly see them share their pains and find comfort in each other especially ai who was not loved by her family. this was mostly marketed as a romance and from the beginning as a show abt two lover so your expectations from wanting it to be a family based show might have led to your boredom. i do agree with the lack of emotional connection between ai and her friends especially in the present. but i feel like it was needed or else there wouldn't be a solid reason for may to hide that she knows its ai. its also what makes may a morally grey character cause at the end of the day, she did cause pain through her decision. i would have liked ai to be at least a bit bothered by may's actions but oh well. i also feel like the jealously scene was a bit much but it also did add something, about ai having to be confident in herself and in her love and the only person that can make her believe is ai itself.

may should have assured oom that she loved the person she is and not let her be caught up in her insecurities. to me both the twins had the same issues, the only difference is that may learned to communicate a bit better with ai.
Ai did the same thing when she freaked out when May said she was her love at first sight, which really shouldn't…
i would say ai and oom are equally emotionally damaged. both of them had the same issues. i think may also has some issues cause a lot of the problems could have been solved if she was more vocal. with the whole first crush thing, she could have reassured oom that she loved the person she is with now. i think this whole first crush/love conflict was a weak reason for oom and may's relationship to break
