I watch this story for complex non typical characters (which can look typical only on surface), conflicts, dialogues (there so many good dialogues), I believe in author that she has story to tell us, through different characters, situations, I just enjoy this ride ))
I also continue thinking about characters after each episode end, which almost never happen with me))

He appeared more in first part, but later story will be more focus on CX. I dont think drama portrayed XL action as romantic (he will never will try pursue FL), he is demon and very twisted and drama not white washed him, I find it very interesting)) now almost impossible find not whitewashed characters in cdramas

When I start watching any drama I understand what it will about, there beautiful story with healthy MLs and I love it a lot, but this drama i watch for angst and anti heroes (same when I watched GMP)) even from trailer can see how angsty and torturing this story will be, I even didnt read novel only spoilers and trailers (and a bit manhua)
So im here enjoy story as it is))

There plenty dramas, series without any "toxic" MLs, even this year has the most healthy MLs every like Starry Love, Back from the brink, Destined, Hidden Love and so on)) its more difficult find story with anti hero MLs like LYF (because even TTEOTM they changed ML into lovesick selfless angel)), if you hate it I not sure you will very enjoy this story because Jing will have little screen time, XL will become much more better, but CX will be so much worse the XL ever was, and he is ML who will have the most screen time, its angsty story with a lot abuse
