To me, it feels like it's more of the later. She's on a mission, to remove the evil bone then kill before the Evil God awakes in TTJ. She needs to keep TTJ alive until the evil bone is removed.
Up until this moment, Ep10, I still can't see how these 2 can fall in love. One wants to kill her, the other on a secret mission, to rid the evil bones then kill. And in between planning/wanting to kill each other they fall in love. Anyone finished reading the novel can spoil pls?

Reason why she's still pretending around him is she doesn't know he knew she (FL) is faking the illness at this moment, the FL also doesn't know if ML is friend or foe, so she has to be very careful as she's a hostage and a target. Better be safe than sorry I guess
