I think it was mentioned somewhere that he never actually cheated, he just made it look that way to hurt her, but agreed he didn't deserve a second chance. There is a version where the FL doesn't take him back, and it's so good because the ML is in love with the FL in the end but she's hurt and done and now he's stuck with the 2FL lol. I thought this one was going that way with them separating but : (
