Double Helix had a lot of hate because of the toxicity. That's one of the reason i like about Japanese bl they don't cast because of visuals and they do not center their bls about what their fans want or not. Sometime last week some fans were calling Japanese bl actors ugly. The last thing i would do is gosh over a bl because the visuals are good and the acting is basic.

I totally agree a lot of their fans are young. The same thing happens to bls from Korea, Japan and Taiwan have low ratings. Imagine The On1y One having a rating of 8.2.

I also remember Duang with you been 9.0 and tbh it wasn't 9.0 worthy. Especially when we have bls like Spare me your mercy, I told sunset about you which are not above 8.2 and are one of the best Thai bl out there.

I also use comment section and not ratings on mdl sometimes to determine if i would watch it or not.

I don’t think so. I still don’t use MDL ratings to determine whether a show BL or non-BL is successful. There are plenty of fans who don’t even have an MDL account. Most of the time, these Chinese BLs actually trend on Weibo, so their popularity and success can’t really be judged by MDL ratings alone.

Revenged Love was a successful BL and it has an 8.5 rating on MDL.

I also think Chinese BLs simply don’t have the same number of viewers as BLs coming from Domundi and GMMTV, which naturally affects how much engagement and visibility they gets.

Some of you crying in the comments about the use of AI are honestly a funny bunch 😭. I remember people complaining about the AI intro for The Prosecutor’s Proposal too.

Trying to downgrade Ash simply because the production team used AI is childish as hell. The actors did their jobs, delivered their performances, and clearly put in the work, yet some of you can’t look past the use of AI by the production team. If you don’t want to watch it, then DON’T. Nobody is forcing you.

And yes, i’m one of those fujos who watches AI BLs too (I have gone down that rabbit hole) The same way i use ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Grok. 😂
And i absolutely don’t support using AI to steal jobs and roles from actual actors. I was literally laid off because of AI, so let’s just say AI and i have a very complicated love-hate relationship. 😭
