i seriously can not let this show go
disclaimer: this review is going to be long and basically a ramble. i absolutely ADORE this show. i know its not an objectively GOOD show, but it just brings me so much comfort. i really really love pondphuwin, so yes i am biased, but i still think this show is definitely worth a watch. lets jump into it.first i want to talk about the plot. yeahhhhh, its not great. i'll be the first to admit it, the plot doesn't make a whole lot of sense, it's full of cliches, and the bodyguard x rich spoiled kid dynamic is way too overused and feels more like a wattpad storyline. with that being said, it works. the show starts off pretty slow for the first like 5 episodes when they're at the school, and neung and palm are just starting to get to know each other. it picked up a little bit with the whole ben thing (which i HATE), but it doesn't fully get good until neung's mom gets shot and they go to stay with palm's mom. the island episodes (which is most of the show) are so freaking good. the little gay couple that inspires palm and neung genuinely warms my heart whenever i think about them. they were so adorable, all of their interactions with neung and palm made me smile SO much. palm's dynamic with his mom was also a highlight, but i'll talk about more when i get to my characters paragraph. the island episodes was where it really felt like you could see palm and neung fall in love for real, especially neung. palm literally was whipped for this man since he first laid eyes on him, but neung took a little longer to fully fall. i can't fully express just how much i love the island episodes. i'm writing this review after my third watch, and sometimes when i'm sad i'll just rewatch episodes 7-9 to make myself feel better. the second couple, ben and neung's cousin (im sorry idk his name i just know he's played by perth) were lowkey REALLY forgettable. they were kind cute i guess, but i still hate ben. im sorry i really don't like him, he's the entire reason i just can't bring myself to rate this show a 10. actually, there's another reason i can't rate this show a 10: THE FUCKING LEAVING. when neung left palm for the first time, it felt well-done, it made perfect sense. i was not mad when neung left, because neung was acting in-character. however, when palm left neung in the LAST GODDAMN EPISODE i was so lost. that made no fucking sense im sorry. palm's whole character is being in love with neung and wanting to be with him forever, so WHY did he leave. idk, whenever i rewatch i just skip that whole 20 minute plotpoint bc it just pmo. overall, the plot is definitely the weakest part of the show, but it doesn't bring it down all that much. just suspend you disbelief, its a thai bl, you gotta just go with it sometimes.
moving onto characters, i have SO much to say. let me break down all the important characters into one sentence:
neung: starts off a spoiled brat, turns into the perfect loyal bf for palm
palm: constantly playing the hero, quite literally takes a bullet for neung
neung's cousin (perth): confused pussy who knows his dad is literally killing people but won't do anything to stop him
ben: THE FUCKING WORST I HATE HIM SO MUCH OH MY GOD
thanya: BADDIEEEE. the sweetest mom i love her so much
kit: most cartoon supervillian character ever, seriously he's so evil its almost laughable
chanon: really annoying father figure, legit cares for neung more than his own son
mam: BADDIEEEEE and such a relatable character, i sobbed when she died
neung and palm are really sweet once neung stops being a dickwad all the time. palm is my baby bro, i would do anything for him. i might like palm extra because pond is my fav actor of all time, and DAMN pond does a fantastic job playing palm. phuwin did a good job with neung, but i can tell it was a tough role for him since he is such a different person from neung. i love palm and neung so much tho. they're ADORABLE and they have a ton of chemistry. once again, as the #1 pondphuwin fan i am 1000000% biased, but still, they're undeniably cute. perth's character (just looked up his name, its chopper), is really annoying. like dude YOUR DAD IS KILLING PEOPLE if i were him i'd turn that man in within 5 seconds. ben is my literal opp. god i hate this man SO much oh my god. WHY DID YOU LIKE NEUNG. WHY DID YOU KISS NEUNG. WHY DID YOU BLAME EVERYTHING ON NEUNG. everything ben did, everything ben said, it all made me so angry. the only thing he did was make palm kill neung to make him feel better. other than that, it felt like his only purpose was to piss me off. i had to skip a lot of his scenes with neung in the beginning of the show because he just made me SO mad. mam was adorable, i literally loved her. she made a lot of sense, and hearing her tell palm why she left him was really amazing. i loved seeing a character admit she loves herself more than her son and not be demonized. it was refreshing. thanya was sweet when she was alive, i always love seeing non homophobic parents in bls. the other characters were just cliches. kit was so funny im sorry, why was he SO unforgivably evil. he had no redeeming qualities, and sometimes it felt like he was doing bad shit just to do it. none of the characters are all that special besides neung, palm, and their parents.
in conclusion, this show is really good. i love it with my entire heart and soul, even though its not really anything special. its a fun show to watch if you just want something kind of stupid with cute leads. is it a great show? no. but, it's charming in its own ways, and, as you know if you've made it this far, I LOVE PALM AND NEUNG SO MUCH!!!!! so, if you made it this far and you haven't watched it, please do. trust me, you wont regret it.

if they put half has much energy into solving the case as they did flirting, no one would've died
joongdunk, i love you, and you are the ONLY reason this show is as good as it is. let's get into it.i'm going to start with the good, there's a very decent amount. first of all: joongdunk. second of all: aouboom. am i biased that two of my favorite ships were in this show? absolutely. but still, they did a great job. i think that joong as jade was FANTASTIC. that man was playing himself. i can tell he was having fun with this role, so i was having fun right along with him. it was also really funny seeing joong play a cop when i'm still stuck on his role as fadel in the heart killers like.. bro really went from a hitman to a police chief you can't say thats not hilarious. dunk also did great! while i don't think he's quite as strong of an actor as joong is, he still delivered a solid performance and he does have real chemistry with joong. aou and boom may have not had much screentime, but let me tell you when they first showed up i SCREAMED. i did NOT know they would be making an appearance, and oh my god was i excited when they did. of course, they nailed their parts as always!! other highlights from the show include the ost yall DARE YOU TO LOVE IS SUCH A GOOD SONG!!! that song deadahh is on my playlist and in my daily rotation like it is THAT good. i also think that pahn and sing did a great job playing the killers. now, let's move onto the bad..
so like, the "bad" that im about to discuss may make it seem like this show is a LOT worse than it is. these are just nitpicks (for the most part), so none of these issues i have ruin the show in any way. with that, lets talk about my biggest issue: the writing. guys, you are POLICE OFFICERS. people are DYING. college kids are DYING. there is a MURDERER on the loose. how, literally, HOW are you guys casually flirting on the job, FUCKING IN THE OFFICE, and acting like nothing is wrong. its genuinely so unrealistic. i was literally laughing when they started fucking in the police office i was like are we so serious right now. but yeah, my huge issue with this show is just how they can't seem to balance the romance with the mystery. jade and kamin can fall in love while ALSO doing their jobs!! i feel like as soon as any romance started happening, the mystery just fell to the waist side. my favorite scenes in the whole show was actually when jade and kamin weren't there, and it was just the kill scenes where i was looking for clues. i noticed that the killer had earrings, so i guessed it was the doctor because sing has earrings. it was little things like that that make the mystery FUN, so when the writers gave up on the mystery plot when dealing with the love story i was lowkey mad. besides that, my only other main issue was just how unlikable literally EVERY supporting character was. literally, all of the "avengers" were assholes and i was rooting for them to die. i was genuinely mad when champ survived like i wanted that mf DEAD he pissed me off so bad. even jay was extremely unlikeable and i found myself rooting against him more than i was rooting for him. it got to the point where i was literally on fai's side entirely like yeah girl your friends are highkey evil they deserve this.. i had a particular problem with champ, i'm not sure what it is, but chimon is really good at playing the most unlikeable characters ever. i think the only time i've ever disliked a character more than champ was with ben in never let me go, and guess what, CHIMON PLAYS THEM BOTH. and whats crazy is i really love chimon as a person, but dear god is he good at playing assholes. last issue i had with this show was the doctor, not the killer, but the other one. the one always asking for kamin's contact like bro SHUT UP. everytime he came on screen i genuinely groaned like bruh i did NOT give a gaf about him at all.
one more thing that i actually was pleasantly surprised by in this show was all the deaths. i did not expect literally all of the avengers to die pretty much, but they did, and i was glad. i think i'm so used to seeing tv shows being too afraid to kill characters off, so it was refreshing seeing this. i was genuinely SHOCKED when champ killed cherreen in the last episode like i did NOT see that coming. when watching that scene my jaw was legit on the floor.
in conclusion, this show is very good. is it flawed? 100000%, but it never acted like it wasn't. joongdunk's chemistry carries this show, and thats okay. i had fun with the mystery over the 10 weeks it aired, playing detective trying to solve who the murderer was. i think that its a shame gmmtv barely promoted this show because it deserves a lot more attention than its got, but i guess every gmmtv show is getting overshadowed by me and thee anyways so.. im going to wrap this up by saying that i love joongdunk, and i dont think this show would be nearly as enjoyable without them.

another absolute masterpiece out of china this year
h.o.l.y.s.h.i.t. this show is INSANE. idek where to begin honestly. oh i know, THE FUCKING CAST???? insane. these actors are INSANE. the chemistry is so real it genuinely makes you question everything. seeing the shift in both of the actors in the episodes after the time skip is crazy. like these actors are probably some of the best actors i have ever seen in a bl. they are so talented bro like i actually cant. the writing is so clever, the schemes are so well thought out, and these characters are just so complex. its so exciting and refreshing to see a bl thats more than just two guys randomly deciding to like each other. this show was DEPTH and i am so here for it. i would literally be dying for a new episode every single day of the week. this show had me HOOKED. im obsessed another 10/10 from china!!!!Was this review helpful to you?
surfjava are my everything
okay so after head 2 head i was SO excited to see surfjava again and omg they did NOT disappoint in the slightest. let me just start off by saying that their chemistry is so real and genuine its kinda insane. like yall surfjava are not PLAYING these two are good at what they do. i think they both did a great job with their roles, and im not just saying this because i love them. the story is also a super fun, little story with not too much to it. its simple, its fun, its cute, and i had a great time with it.i was suspicious of the muteluv series because i didn't think that gmmtv could pull off stories with real depth in only four episodes. while i haven't watched all of the different stories, both love me if you swear and hi! by my luck were both really well done, and i'm pleasantly surprised by their quality. the writing is sharp, the editing isn't the usual gmmtv over-the-top-corny, and, of course, the acting is on point. i want to reiterate that this series truly shines because of surfjava and their absolutely incredible performances. literally sooooooo good omg.
last thing, louis did such a good job in this show like.. he's always a scene stealer for me no matter what he's in and this is no exception, messi is an absolute cutie!! in conclusion, this show is a FANTASTIC short series and i am so pleased with how gmmtv handled this. i hope surfjava have a new series soon idk what im gonna do without them :(

perfect 10 liners was absolutely a TEN.
so to be completely honest here, i only wanted to watch this show for perthsanta. i have been so obsessed with both of them for like a year, and i have wanted to watch this one since it released, but i pushed it off until late 2025. with that being said, perthsanta were not the only great thing about this show. the show's name fits so well, because honestly, i haven't had this much fun watching a thai bl in a little bit. i'll break up my review into 3 different parts, each part focusing on a different main couple.1. arc + arm (forcebook) episodes 1-8
im not always the BIGGEST forcebook fan. i enjoyed them in only friends and in a boss and a babe, but they never seemed like anything special. however, they were absolutely ADORABLE in this show like genuinely oh my god. arm is the perfect character for book like seriously he was so good at this role it was so fun. force did a great job as arc as well. i feel like these characters resemble their actors very well, so nothing felt awkward or weird. i will admit their story was the most cliche of the three, but i didn't even care. yes arc being a jerk to arm because he liked him was kinda annoying at first but you have to get past the first few episodes before you see him being sweet like UGHHHHHHH they were so cute. even after their main episodes were done, i would get so excited when they would show up later on in their cute little scenes. i love arcarm so much, i would say they were the weakest couple of the three, but that is all due to the story. forcebook were great, their chemistry is always rock solid, and their episodes were a great way to get acclimated to the overarching story. however, if you find yourself getting bored during their episodes, just skip to episode 9, it'll pick up with yothagun and you honestly won't miss THAT much. rating of these episodes: 8.5/10.
2. yotha + gun (perthsanta) episodes 9-16
okay so, yeah, I LOVED THIS ARC SO FUCKING MUCH OASDFNDJFA;DFEO FJA WWEFINREIE i love perthsanta they are so freaking cute like i could go on for ages i love them so much they are sososososososoos dear to me. my love for perthsanta might make me a bit biased, but i think its safe to say these two crushed it here. perth seems to play the same character in every show, and its no exception here. yotha reminds me a lot of chopper from never let me go, and i also feel like hes similar to tawan from me and thee (ik me and thee is newer but still) so i think that perth is very good at roles like this, and by "roles like this" i mean roles of the reserved, kind-of-an-asshole-but-not-with-the-boy-he-likes type of role. yotha was absolutely an asshole to literally everyone else in the entire WORLD besides gun, but i thought his feelings for gun seemed really genuine and sweet. the word "beagle" still makes me wanna cry sometimes and i still say "don't have nightmares" whenever someone tells me goodnight like the yotha effect is REAL. santa also did a really fantastic job playing gun. honestly, gun was such a ray of sunshine and every time he would come on screen i wanted to giggle like a middle school girl he is just SO CUTE. unlike a lot of overly nice and cute bl characters i never got annoyed with gun. he wasn't dumb, and i think his nightmare trauma stuff is actually pretty interesting. i do have a few complaints about this arc tho.. (lowk really big spoiler coming up) WHY DID YOTHA KISS WA AT THE BAR THAT ONE TIME LIKE WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK WAS UP WITH THAT??? i'll be honest like i didn't really care much for aouboom's characters (boom was wa but lowkey i forget what aou's character was named) but oh my god when i tell you i threw my laptop across my bed when i saw yotha kiss wa like i MEAN it. i was SO mad i was getting war flashbacks to wu so wei watching chi cheng kiss wang shuo in that one scene from revenged love like i was ENRAGED. idk if i missed something, but that scene had like no reason for happening. both of them liked other people (wa had a fucking BOYFRIEND for gods sake) so like i was pissed bc it felt so forced. also gun was mad for maybe like ONE episode and then he was fine, and honestly yotha's apology was so booty cheeks like come on man you LIKE him right??? idk that felt weird, but other than that they were super cute. actually wait i also didn't like how yotha said "not saying anything means yes" that one time like EWEWEWWEWEWEW #consentishotassaultisnot i know gun was insinuating yes but that line icked me out so bad like yotha please you're so cute 90% of the time don't mess this up!!! my last critique of this arc is that i just kinda dont give a shit about yotha and faifa's mommy issues. sorry not sorry but mommy issues in bls bore the crap out of me, so i lowkey skipped like every scene with the mom, also their shit ass mom is played by the same actress who played gun's (fourth's) absolutely GOATED mom in my school president so i just couldn't take it seriously because that actress will always be gun's mom from msp and she will always be the best mom ever. but other than those three complaints, this arc was my absolute fav. not only do i love perthsanta, i also love the depth of the story. the introduction of aouboom's characters and how aou's character was like a dickwad was pretty fun, tho seeing aou playing that role after seeing him play tan in we are was SUCH whiplash like holy switchup!! i will touch on aouboom's characters later, but now i want to discuss the final arc. rating of these episodes: 10/10.
3. faifa + wine (juniormark) episodes 17-24
i was expecting this arc to be my least favorite because juniormark were the only actors in the show that i hadn't seen much of before, but holy hell i was SO wrong. i want to start off by saying i am SO glad that someone in the show was finally like "wait you all like dudes and thats like.. normal?" wine was so real for that. i loved wine so much more than i ever expected, he was the only normal one in this show i swear. his confession to faifa in the bathroom that he likes guys lowkey made me cry my eyes out and not JUST bc it reminds me a lot of me but also because mark played that scene so well it felt so fucking real. like i felt like wine was going through insane emotional turmoil and i felt for him so hard. faifa was also the biggest sweetie pie of all time he was SO CUTE SFSDFSDLKFJSDKFJDKLFJSLKDFJ oh my god wine you are so lucky. like faifa might be the biggest green flag i've ever seen in a bl ever period point blank (maybe besides kim from boys in love aka my other baby) but like faifa was so cute and fluffy and soft and baby like im sorry i just love this boy so much these two were so cute together. i do feel like their episodes could drag on a little bit, but every moment with faifawine was a happy one, so i wasn't complaining. what did kinda piss me off was how much screentime klao and wa took away from faifa and wine like.. im glad i got to see my aouboom but AT WHAT COST. just give them a spinoff at this point like!! anyways, i really enjoyed this arc as well, and i think that these were the fluffiest episodes of the whole show. rating for thse episodes: 9.5/10.
quick little discussion on klao and wa!!
soooooo i love aouboom like sosososososososo much but im being so honest when i saw i did not give a flying fuck aboout klao and wa the entire show. i mean, klao pissed me off a LOT ( which is sad bc aou is one of my fav actors ever but whatever) and wa also kinda annoyed me. i get that they connect a lot to yotha's past but honestly i just did not care like im sorry. i guess i was happy when they got engaged but like.. i would've prefered arcarm get married or smth like these two didnt even matter until halfway through the show anyways!
to conclude, i want to say that even tho it may sound like i have a lot of negatives to say, those negatives are very minor and do not impact the show very much at all. this show is 24 episodes and i watched it in the span of like 3-4 days DURING FINALS WEEK so yeah its safe to say i was really obsessed with it. i had so much fun with every single arc, every single story line, and all my complaints are just nitpicks so.. yeah! if you made it this far: PLEASE WATCH THIS SHOW OH MY GOD!!!! its simple, easy to digest, and fun. i had a blast, and you def will too!!

absolutely peak toxic yaoi
this review is going to be a little bit biased because this show was my first ever (non anime) bl. i have such vivid memories of randomly finding the first episode of this show the day after it released, and subsequently falling into the bl rabbit hole i have been in for the past two and a half years. so, with all that being said, let's get into it. this show is not "fluffy" in the way most bls are. these two men are in an EXTREMELY toxic situation. mizuki is very clearly using yoh, and yoh is holding a grudge against him. its kind of hard to explain the dynamic, but basically they both really wanna fuck each other, mizuki really likes yoh as a person, and yoh kinda likes mizuki as a person but he also kinda hates him but he likes his face and likes fucking him. confusing? yes. but, it works for me. i think that what really did it for me with this series was seeing how mizuki ACTUALLY cared for yoh. that episode when manju comes to visit yoh, and yoh ends up wasted. like, seeing yoh being all clingy with mizuki ITS SO CUTE UGHHHHHH like omg i think i've rewatched that episode a hundred times because its so damn adorable. the flashbacks to their college days are also so cute too. i feel like the actors really did a great job here. these characters aren't super easy to play, and the actors really brought the characters to life. this bl is so dear to me, it's the reason i'm here, watching bls at 3:00 when i have exams. it's a really great show, with a complex plot that is more than what it looks. i mean it when i say this show is PEAK toxic yaoi. it doesn't get much better than this. Was this review helpful to you?

its not going too far to say this show is perfect in every single way.
oh. my. god. i have watched this show probably around 127 times and i'll still go back and watch it again. its. just. that. good. no seriously, it is very very close to being one of my favorite bls of all time. the story is a little basic, yes, but its just so damn cute i literally want to cry. THESE ACTORS HAVE SO MUCH CHEMISTRY BRO. the connection felt so real. i loved how green flag everyone was (except for that one scene.. y'all know which one i'm talking about). it was such a fluff-fest, i was having a good time for pretty much the whole show. i really enjoyed how the characters weren't literal dumbasses. the arguments felt real and not forced, and the whole thing with coming out to taeseong's mom was handled so well. all in all, this show is fantastic. one of the easiest bls to rewatch since theres no stupid characters ragebaiting the whole time. Was this review helpful to you?
best acting i have ever seen in a kbl
oh my GOD this show is actually so good it makes me want to cry. these actors are so incredibly talented like kbls are usually so bad at getting actors with natural chemistry that doesn't feel like they grabbed two statues and told them to be gay. this show feels so REAL and i absolutely adore it for that. by far one of the best bls out of 2025, i seriously can not recommend it enough. Was this review helpful to you?

used to be one of my favs, but it has been outdone in recent years
this bl is an absolute classic. its super cute, and despite it having a really weird name, its a very wholesome and overall enjoyable watch. when i first watched it i was blown away at how well the actors did, but after a recent rewatch, i realize just how much bls have stepped up their game in recent years. i mean, these dudes didnt or barely kissed on screen at all, which feels like a letdown since the entire show felt like a buildup to that. the story is really cute, but i will be honest adachi and kurosawa both had some incredibly cringe moments that made me want to physically crawl out of my skin. keeping with the things i didn't enjoy with this show, WHAT was that second couple. i know there was supposed to be an age gap of some sort but it felt borderline illegal to me. the younger guy highkey looked like 12 years old i was uncomfortable during all of their scenes. the actors didn't do anything wrong necessarily, i think it was more a mistake on the stylists and makeup artists for making the younger guy look WAYYYYY too young. the younger guy at work i think his name was rokkaku or something good lord he pissed me off SO bad. the girl side character was super cute i actually really liked her, i wanted her to have a yuri subplot but i guess thats too much to ask for. overall, this show was really carried by the two lead actors, they did a really great job. this show feels a little outdated now, since bls have gotten a lot better with having real kisses and shows that don't treat the word "gay" like a curse word, but for being from 2020, this is a cute little show that's definitely worth a watch. Was this review helpful to you?

its a staple bl for a reason!
this show is just so good. theres not much more to say. the cast is great, the story is good, and its an overall really fun and easy-going watch. i'll be honest, the coder (i do NOT remember his name sorry) kinda pissed me off like a lot, i get it that was what his character was meant to do but there were certain times during the show where i was like damn why does the older guy even want you. but the chemistry between the two leads is undeniable. i really did love seeing their cute moments, and that last scene of the last episode is so stinkin cute. this show is definitely a super beginner friendly bl, its fluffy, short, and easy to swallow. def recommend (if you somehow haven't seen it yet) for a fun one-night binge. Was this review helpful to you?

i cried so hard i genuinely thought i was going to puke
i cant even explain the heartbreak this show gave me. i only watched it because i knew the actor that played koichi played my favorite side character in takara-kun & amagi-kun. i started the show with honestly pretty low expectations, thinking i would just be watching anotehr cute bl like takara-kun & amagi-kun. good lord how wrong i was. koichi dying within MINUTES of the first episode was so shocking i had to close my laptop screen and just stare at my wall. the whole show was honestly so well done. these actors were COMMITTED they played their parts so incredibly well. the ending really did it for me. when i tell you i cried for DAYS i mean it. i was in distress, texting like eight people telling them i genuinely coudln't go on because mitsuru was going to grow old without koichi with him. i'm still not totally over it. this show was such a sucker punch to the gut, so i'll likely never rewatch it, but it's still an amazing show. the only reason its not a 10/10 is because mitsuru pmo sometimes. Was this review helpful to you?
it was good. but definitely not great
im ngl this show was soooo boring. the actors had great chemistry but literally it was such a hard watch because i kept wanting to pick up my phone. the music was whatever, the story was whatever, the characters were whatever. i feel like now that we have ball boy tactics this show doesn't stand out as a basketball themed bl. definitely give it a watch if you have the time, but dont put it at the top of your priorities. its as bland as you would expect from the average kbl.Was this review helpful to you?

the most confused i've ever felt during a film and the most moved i have ever felt afterwards
this movie is such an incredible experience that its honestly hard to sum up in words. during my first watch i was completely lost. i had no idea what was going on when there was the random cut to the okinawa trip, and the random forum intercuts that happened throughout. i was the most lost with the apple stabbing thing, but after a second watch and also a crap ton of note taking it all made sense. this movie is a nonlinear narrative, which means the events do not happen in chronological order. though confusing at first, i feel like this was the right choice for this story. honestly this movie is a very uncomfortable watch, i mean we literally are just watching a poor middle school boy get completely tormented both online and in real life by this boy who was once his close friend. thats literal nightmare fuel but it was so well done. i loved the side character of the girl, and when she ended up killing herself i genuinely cried so hard i had to pause the movie. the aesthetics of this movie feel like at time capsule of a long gone time period, i feel like im in a time machine while watching it. the cinematography is off the charts as well. the whole movie is absolutely ethereal and breathtaking. overall, this film is so much more than just an old movie made in japan, its a movie that encapsulates an era of japan that is now long gone, and now we get to see a glimpse of the lives of those who lived in it.Was this review helpful to you?

dare i say this show is a masterpiece?
yeah folks we can stop right here we've officially done it: this is the best bl not only of this year, but in my opinion the best bl ive ever seen (and ive seen a decent amount). i dont even know what to say, i usually break my reviews into a positive paragraph and a negative paragraph, but i kid you not i dont have a SINGLE negative thing to say, isnt that insane? miss negative nancy over here doesnt have a single bad thing to say, this is a rare sight ladies and gentlemen.ive been watching this show since the first week, and i was lowkey kinda nervous bc i havent seen netjj in anything, since i STILL havent watched the next prince. i watched some of bed friend, so i did kinda know net's acting before this, but holyyyyyy shit absolutely NOTHING could have prepared me for the acting both net AND jj delivered in this show. not even kidding this might be the best acting ive seen in a bl in a veryyyyyy long time. net is really great in this, i genuinely could not get enough of phob i love that man so much. jj was amazing too!!!!! i really enjoyed seeing the slow shift in his word choice from when he originally traveled back to the past to when he was there for a long time. while i am not fluent by any means in thai, nor am i extremely educated on the linguistic differences between modern thai and the thai spoken during the ayutthaya period, what language differences i could gather from my somewhat decent thai skills was really fun and cool to see. latte and kim were really great, i do wish they couldve gotten a LITTLE more screentime, but hey, beggars cant be choosers, am i right ladies
guys i love phob so much. i love him i love him i love him i love him i love him i love him i think i could go on for days about this man. genuinely i think he's broken into my top 5 bl characters of all time (hes right in fourth place behind palm from never let me go, style from the heart killers, and karan from cherry magic in case anyone was curious). not only do i love phob because net is amazing, i love him becauese he is a very well written character. i FELT that mans emotion dude, like i felt that shit deep in my soul. every scene that man cried i was right there with him like i havent felt this attached to a fictional man in quite a while. he was sooooo green flag, and he made a lot of sense. like, does that make sense? i feel like obviously a gay romance occuring in the ayutthaya period is obviously a little far fetched, but the way phob's character is written and acted doesnt make it seem ridiculous. it feels rooted in something real, and i really enjoyed that. klao, or nakkun (but i think im gonna stick with klao) is so cute guys like AWWWWWWWWW!!!! i feel like that one tiktok sound thats like awwwwww so cute!!! so cute!!! is that niche? guys idc like everytime i would see klao on screen i would wanna pinch his cheeks like i love jj so much hes so cute i cannot like UGHHHHHH!!!! omg and jom and kaew in the past had a veryyy good plot in my opinion. i really enjoy when bls actually explore the deeper themes of societal homophobia, and i was really scared that this show wasnt gonna do that properly. obviously a bl taking place in a historical time period warrants at least a little bit of discussion on the homophobia of their society, but ive seen a lot of these shows do it in a very surface level way. i feel like the plotline with jom not wanting to be judged was a really good one because it EXPLORED those themese on a bit deeper of a level. now was it the most complex, well thought out, and emotinoally moving plot ever? not necessarily, but it was deep enough that it at least satisfied me.
i also really did enjoy how they explored the controversy of phob and klao's love with phob's parents. when i tell you i sobbed for MULTIPLE DAYS over when phob's dad was gonna kick klao out i mean it. i legit had tears welling in my eyes when i thought about it during class like yall it was genuinely consuming my every waking moment. i know i just said i like when bls explore homophobia and the societal issues with being gay that still persist, but MAN that shit gets me. i feel like bls that explore those themes are more geared at an actual LGBTQ+ audience, and less just straight girls that wanna watch two hot dudes kiss (no shade to those people but..) this show felt geared towards the LGBTQ+ community, if that makes sense. as a member myself, i really saw myself in the characters. these struggles still persist in the modern day, hell, my parents are very similar to phob's in a lot of ways. in addition, the ending really felt like it was meant to hit home for LGBTQ+ people because of the marriage. i am actually still crying over the ending a little bit, and i finished the episode almost an hour and a half ago. that full circle moment of seeing a love transcend both centuries AND societal norms like yall dont know how that gottttttt meeeeeeee!!!! im sorry guys but that ending was PHENOMENAL. like actually. that ending felt so earned, that marriage felt so powerful, and it was a perfect conclusion in my opinion. yes i cried when thee and jun got together. yes i cried when phob and klao met in front of the car. yes i cried when they visited the temples. yes i cried THE WHOLE FREAKING EPISODE. i cant make this up the last episode was 1 hour and 27 minutes (ayyyy 127) of me genuinely struggling to see through my tears. god, this show is everything to me can you guys tell?
in terms of the plot itself, the time travel element was very interesting. was it a little underexplained? kinda, but i could figure it out well enough. the coming back to avenge klao's dad plot was fun, and so was the whole opium thing. i'll be honest here, i didn't 100000% understand the opium plot the whole time. like, a good comparasion is the snake plotline from revenged love. like did i fully get it the whole show? like no, but it got it ENOUGH for me to still have a fucking awesome time. the opium search and trying to find cherd and all that made enough sense for enough of the show for me to be happy. it could have been explained a LITTLE better but once again, i still knew what was going on for the most part. besides, the important parts of the plot made perfect sense, so thats really all that matters to me.
okay, so this has been an absolute glazefest of this show, i get it. i know this review might be hard to take seriously since i havent brought up any major criticisms, but unfortunately i cant bring myself to have an issue with anything in this show. are there some nitpicks i could see others having? sure, absolutely. i could see people hating pim, i could see people thinking the time travel is stupid. i could even see people disliking the ending, and thinking it should have been opened ended or it should have ended with klao and phob never getting together at all. however, i myself dont have these issues. i think that phob and klao getting to live together is such a powerful message about queer love, about how strong it is. i found pim to be a very interesting and important character, and she conveyed how men can control those of weaker social standings. the time travel thing i dont have a big speech to make that seem cool and important, but i thought it was fun like i vibed with it. idk, for all the faults i have seen others pointing out, i just havent felt the same. every tiny issue i see is so inconsequential that the thought barely even crossed my mind while watching.
WOAH. thats a lot of writing. im not reading this back, i really hope there arent any typos or grammar mistakes since i take pride in my writing abilities. i want to wrap this up so if anyone is still reading they can finally rest their eyes and take a breath. let me end with this: i found this show not only to be a fun watch, but to be a meaningful one. this show has left me with this feeling in my chest that very few others have been able to do. it feels like i just finished thamepo, never let me go, boys in love, and my school president all at the same time (these are all my favorite bls in case anyone is curious why i picked those ones). i feel like i laughed with this show, i cried with this show, i held my breath with it, i cowered in fear with it, i did everything with it. i mean this so genuinely when i say this show feels like it was a core part of my life for months. literally every week revolved around friday, because i would get a new episode. letting go of love upon a time is really hard. this sounds soooooo dramatic but its really how i feel. i am so beyond jealous of anyone who waited until the show was over to just binge, because omg you're in for the best time of your life. so to anyone still reading who hasnt watched: RUN BITCH RUN GO WATCH IT NOW PLEASE GO PLEASE GOGOGOGOGOGOGOGO YOU WILL LOVE IT RUN GOOO GOGOGOGOGOGOGOG PLEASE!!!! okay im done! :)

literally how does anyone like this show
good lord how does this show have such high ratings. like genuinely, i NEVER rate bls under 5/10 because i feel bad, but oh my god does this show deserve it. somehow this show is only seven episodes, and i say somehow because watching this show felt like a marathon that was never-ending, and i felt a huge wave of relief when i finished it. let me tell you exactly what this show is: the glamorization of adultery and cheating on your significant other and then justifying it because of "true love". my biggest issue with this show is how the girlfriend of the "straight" guy is painted as the bad guy. so WHAT your girlfriend doesn't wanna have sex. if that's such a deal breaker for you, how about you, idk, BREAK UP WITH HER???? my god this man is so fucking dumb. literally, if your girlfriend is uncomfortable having sex with you maybe you should just talk to HER about it instead of emailing this random dude who isn't actually random but you dont know that and then going and CHEATING on your girlfriend with said random dude. like genuinely it is insane to me how anyone can sympathize with these characters. cheating is wrong literally no matter what. your girlfriend does NOT owe you anything, including sex. if you can't handle that, do. not. continue. dating. her. its not fair to keep this poor girl around while you go and fuck this random guy because you just NEED to fuck someone like this is so weird. im sorry but this show felt so like inherently misogynistic. basically it felt like the whole show was blaming a girl for not wanting to have sex with her boyfriend, so she DESERVED to get cheated on. and then we're all supposed to be okay with the guy cheating on his girlfriend because he cheated with another guy. yeah okay.. in case you cant tell i actually hate this show like im typing this in a rage. i think it's been like 6 months since i first watched this and i still get physically angry when i think about it. the ONLY redeeming quality is at least the actors all did a good job, but good acting can not save a terrible plot with insufferable characters that make stupid choices. if you have made it this far into my review and you haven't seen the show yet please, i beg of you, listen to me: DO. NOT. WASTE. YOUR. TIME. ON. THIS. FUCKASS. BL. unless you enjoy watching people cheating on their significant others and then seeing other people excuse that behavior, skip this one and watch something ACTUALLY worth your time. Was this review helpful to you?
