I think most of the time people watch kdramas and cdramas to escape from harsh realities. Encountering such situations in drama makes it a hard pill to swallow. I too found it annoying at first but Shi yu was the most real person I watched in a long time. The more people hate the character the more bailu has succeeded in portraying that character

I find the female lead’s character the most realistic. She portrays the overly ambitious and confident woman with flaws unlike the unrealistic male lead without any flaws. There was a good growth arc in FL towards the latter episodes.

i don’t get why they couldn’t just get an older actor to play the crown prince if they wanted to go that direction.
It’s called fiction for a reason. It’s where unreasonable and unrealistic things happen that defies logic. It’s acceptable when a king of grandpa age marries a girl several years younger but why not if it’s the other way around. I watched a drama where a prince in his 20s marrying a kid for political reasons. Let’s just enjoy this lovely drama.
