Too many antagonists are this story's downfall.

This sounded like a 10/10 drama from the synopsis alone. I was even more hopeful after watching the trailer. Episode 1 was as wholesome and heartfelt as I expected it to be, if not more.

But from then on as the antagonists are introduced, it went downhill. The amount of antagonists are this story’s downfall. There’s just too much for a 6 episode story. Even if the MCs didn’t have any mental conditions, the amount of antagonists in this story would make almost anyone snap and be on the edge. Even as a viewer, it was just too much for me to sit through. It would have been better if the writer narrowed it down to at most two types of antagonists for both MCs and dialed down their intensity. Instead, they shoved in as many kinds that they could possibly fit into the story and dialed them up to 10.

I dropped this around ep 4 where the MCs’ support systems started to be more vocal, but I can’t bring myself to see how it all ends at the moment. I’m somewhat sure the MCs will get a happy ending, and I might come back to watch ep6 at some later time.

Feels kinda blah

It's not like I didn't give this drama a chance. I got to 15 episodes before calling it quits. The story and characters are promising. It’s what made me stick with it for so long in the first place. But boy, does it feel like watching a story that’s told by a monotone narrator.

The direction is average at best along with the acting. This story strongly relies on a whole host of characters, not just the main one. And when you drop the ball in casting more than a handful of them, the various story arcs that involve them become a drag to watch.

Just finished this yesterday, and I have mixed feelings. The characters and story were so great, but they really dragged this. If I wasn’t so invested in the characters, I would have dropped this.

Pros
Characters - They were so brilliantly written. I was invested in so many of them. The way the writers could make you feel for a character who had as little as 1 minute of screentime.

Character development

Romance – I didn’t watch this for the romance nor was I expecting it, but it has two of the most romantic and sweetest couples I’ve ever seen. I really adore the second couple. They’re so precious.

Twist & Turns – So, so many layers to this story. I love it.

Cons
Length – This drama really dragged. It could have been the greatest thing ever if they cut out a couple of episodes. I thought there would be some reprieve in the end, but nope. I actually fast-forwarded through 50% of it. What they added to drag the story for another episode was really unnecessary and especially to do that to viewers in the end.

Spoiler – The streaming service I watched this on uses a thumbnail that is a MAJOR spoiler. Not the story’s fault ofc, but it definitely ruined the mystery and surprise for me.

A dark and gritty series on crimes and social issues involving juveniles. Gripping cases with an overarching story from beginning to end.

Children don’t have a developed enough brain to be able to understand the consequences of their actions. But then what if that action involves a loss of a human life? Or when the action is horrific… inhumane? How do we balance understanding the perpetrators as well as the victims? How do we determine the appropriate punishment for a juvenile in order for them to understand the pain and suffering their actions have caused and to deter them from doing something similar or even worse in the future?

That is what each of the cases in Juvenile Justice address. I think the series does a wonderful job of presenting cases where the juveniles are a product of their environment, are still redeemable and can be saved. And then the juveniles who are so horrific that they need to be caught and appropriately punished. While the series is extremely dark and horrific, they do so in a respectable manner. They show just enough of the events that you can use your imagination to fill in the rest of the scenes. I wish more shows would do this.

I think the only drawback the series has is that it addresses the issues AFTER a juvenile commits a crime but not so much on the prevention of it in the first place. I think one of the stories attempts to do that, and I hope that message got across to viewers. That the quality of family life is important. That running away and homelessness can be dangerous. And that we need better social safety nets to protect the vulnerable.

The MC said one thing in the beginning that took me aback and to be honest, turned me off. “I hate juveniles”. But by the end, I understood what she meant with a broken heart that is terribly sad for her character.

Too predictable

The premise was so promising. Unfortunately, the storyline itself just couldn’t deliver on it being a suspense or thriller. You already know that the victims will die no matter what. So you’re not on the edge of your seat seeing if they’ll survive along with the many other incidents that happen.

I’m dropping this at ep7. So far, not once has the seer been able to stop the bad guys. I’m sure he’ll be able to by the end. But with no back and forth and one outsmarting the other as we go along, it makes the story boring.

Eventually the bad guys are probably going to backstab each other. It would be entertaining if they weren’t already pathetic to begin with. It makes no sense for the main bad guy to be this person who can read and manipulate anyone and yet be serving the other men (who would be nothing without him), calling them “sir” and such. Either make him stupid or smart, he can’t be both.

Disappointing given the premise and all star cast here.

Interesting premise with unfortunately, an unbelievable main character. The MC makes too many careless mistakes, doesn’t have the street smarts, decisiveness or emotional intelligence to pull off running a network of girls along with fail safes and a single subordinate all by himself WHILE going to school full-time. I just don’t buy it.

It would make more sense if the story built him up to get to the point of managing this illegal operation or have someone else more believable be the mastermind. It’s too bad given its interesting premise and supporting characters.

Luke and Namtarn characters look so cute together here. As much as I thought about slogging through this for them, there's the rub. I shouldn't have to feel like I'm "slogging" through watching something. Episode 1 was promising, if you could stand the two annoying women being catty and chasing after ML. Then episode 2 was just extremely slow and boring. I couldn't even finish it.

Great cast, camera work, photography, hair and makup team (Namtarn with the short curly hair and glasses is the prettiest I have seen her), but the storyline and execution is lacking.

Unfortunately, I'm dropping this after 2 episodes. Such a superb generational female cast in this drama. It's what One31 does best. Gather some of the best actresses and putting them in a drama together. I love them for it but this time around, they put these ladies in an outdated storyline. I can't even force myself to finish this for them.

If you watched one of these types of storylines, they're mostly the same with very little variation. Two women in love with the same man. Of course, he loves only one of them, and the ghost is the one who has held a grudge against the couple over LIFETIMES. If she was genuinely wronged and cursed to be a ghost for it, this would be a whole lot more watchable. Or genuinely and selflessly loves the person and is a ghost to watch over them, I would absolutely love that. Why can't we have these types of ghost storylines instead? But this is just an obsessed woman who can't accept that the person she "loves" is in love with someone else. Did the whole voodoo thing to make him "love" her instead and hate the other. Yea... you know, THAT story arc that most of us who have seen this type of story, abhor.

Song sounds really good. It's sung by New Jiew afterall, but it's about a woman in love and pining over a taken man who doesn't love her. Ladies or gentlemen, please no. If this was about a male ghost pining and obsessing over a taken woman, I'd feel the same way.

I love Ben, but this character and storyline is beneath her. I'll watch her and the rest of the cast, in hopefully, a better story.
