The entire plot is about the US wanting to start yet another war for *no* reason, like they ALWAYS DO. If you don't see that it's criticizing the US gov and its military actions over the years, Idk what to do for you at this point, you might just be a bit dumb. In the last episode we literally learn that the US knew the submarine intel was not real and still chose war, the show is NOT painting them as the good guys here.
They also talked about Iraq bc the ML was a soldier there, it's factual that the US was in Iraq. A lot of veterans turn to private security jobs and the most "experienced" veterans out there are americans because well, they're the only ones in every war on the planet. That's why they made him american and that's why he was in Iraq, bc americans were in fact in Iraq. I didn't see any gloryfication of US soldiers in the ME in any of the scenes in Iraq, they had no reason to be there in the first place and we all know it. If anything, those scenes show the irony of ML trying to prevent a US-made war on North Korean soil when he himself actively participated in another US-made war (Iraq) on behalf of the US army. What's up? Is war no longer fun when the victim is your country ?
They are romanticizing ML who is a veteran turned hitman, he's not a good guy and they didn't even try to hide it, they outright showed us he's not a good, him being a nasty murderer in Iraq is not surprising, and if you like him then that's on you, but again ML is NOT a good guy. Just like all american veterans btw.
As for China, they didn't say "China choses war", the question was "why didn't China intervene ? Why chose war ?" they are WONDERING why. Because, spoiler alert, China and NK have an alliance, and any war in NK would affect China and every countries around it. So in reality China WOULD intervene, 100%, but well, if they did, there wouldn't be any plot. It's not even part of the plot to wonder why they are not doing anything, they just needed to adress it because if they didn't, we would have wondered "why is China doing nothing ?".
EVERYONE IS BAD, all politics are corrupted, that's the point... "Together, they navigate a treacherous world of power, deception, and buried conspiracies".
They had a female president allow the war to happen, I don't see you bitching about how that's misogynistic, you don't see Koreans crying about how they would never have a president chose war over their people or how SK's presidents are only chosen because the US veto them. It's a work of fiction.
I would 100% be bitching too if they decided to bring down China to uphold the US, I'm tired of the anti-china/pro-america propaganda, but it's pretty clear that everyone sucks here. And in the case of China, they're not even depicted as the bad guy, they just don't intervene because the plot needs China to not do anything, otherwise no plot, simple as that.
lmao so China can't ever be the bad guys ever in a fictional story ? I mean I get it, in the drama they draw the US as this big and strong entity so chinese ppl might be pissed that on the other hand China is depicted as "wanting war", and we know how the two countries feel about each other and the anti-china propaganda in the west, but did they miss the part where everyone wants war, the US included ? They are literally saying that FL and her husband have been targeted by the US, no one is good here.
Ah yet another kdrama made on the sexist plot, showing FL who is like a scared inecure bunny and mentally/emotionally…
she's like 20 or something in the 80s, not 35 acting like a teen -__- Also your vision of what a woman should be for a man to be attracted to her lmaoooo so fucking misogynistic. Women don't need to perform to find a man.
this is so "you wanted my best friend so much (you got together or not), she left us, we all moved on with our life, we then met later on and got together" coded !!
Mr. queen was based on Chinese Drama Go Princess go, It's not considered an original script as a whole 😅 that…
That's fine, the argument holds lol, in Mr.queen the guy is a chef that uses his skills to satisfy the grand queen dowager but thankfully thats not the whole plot. I'll check that c drama thanks
The story is mainly about cooking and the webtoon or manhwa was written before Mr queen so it's not trying to…
ok because you said the novel/webtoon was released before mr. queen (2020) and someone else also said it to me, so I wanted to check that to revise my comment since I dont mind being wrong, but I can't find sources anywhere :/
The problem is you expected a 'story' but 'cooking' is the story of this drama, main focus and everything else, the…
I'll revise my comment then : such plot is not enough to justify a 12 episodes show, imo. but you're right, I came here for the historical drama, not the cookin show drama so it makes sense that I'm disappointed. however, I'm pretty open minded and if the story and the plot was good enough for me, I'd have enjoyed it more. the first few episodes were entertaining but it got boring. Also what's the source of the publication date of the webtoon? I found nowhere that it was released prior to 2020.

I guess it also depends on what their definition of "tied up everything well" means 👀 What I consider a good ending could be their idea of a bad ending and vice versa. Depends also how much liberty the writers took and how well they'll use the remaining episodes to wrap thing up. We'll see, I put no hope into it honestly but hopefully it will satisfy you haha

Yeah I think that's what I'll do! I'm not really looking forward to next week's episodes since it's still going to be the contest so I'll wait until the last four episodes are out
How fast did it become boring. It's bad enough that they tried to replicate a part of the plot of Mr. Queen to create one whole show (as if it's enough in the first place), the bare minimum would be to put work into actually making a good story out of it.... Idc that it's originaly a web novel, we know where the inspiration came from. 2 episodes for one pressure cooker and 2 rounds of a cooking competition (yes, another one)that nobody cares about. Will all 12 episodes be about proving that she's a great cook? Bc we got it now... 4 episodes left and one of them will also be about the cooking competition, in the end, what's the story?
Finally decided to watch it after 5 years. I'm disappointed the emotional connexion between the king and Bong hwan was not adressed in the end, as if they didn't both fell in love with each other. But well, a popular k-drama like that, I didn't expect much lgbt inclusivity lol. It was still good though, good thing it was on hold, I has nothing to watch lately lol
