From what I understand, he was poisoned with Heavenly Grief and this is how he gained spiritual veins. But this poison was only suppressed at that time because Bo Yulan did not have Diwu Tree. However, before Bo Yulan died, she had already created the Golden Millet Dream and gave it to JBZ but he chose not to drink it to lure his enemies into thinking he had the GDM. When the poison relapsed towards the end, he was then cured because of the new GDM that Master She created (the Diwu Tree came from Situ Ling).
I just finished it and I must say that JBZ and MY’s dynamics were just sooo good! They are literally equals and I really love how they both “sacrifice” at the end, MY not letting JBZ to do it alone 😭 this is a kind of xianxia where it just gets better and better ep after ep.
P.S. i think this is the longest happy ending that I’ve watched in a xianxia so it’s certainly a plus 💯

still on ep 34 but i can say this is one of the best releases this year.. first few episodes were slow as they’re still building up the story but once you get past that, you’re in for a ride!
