In my opinion the novel ending is the best she keep pushing and insulting LSY and when she don't get CL she wants…
I feel like LSY is a bully to XJ. His gestures weren't gentle, like when he kicked her( unintentionally) and she falled down the stairs. She could have gotten broken arms or legs. His way of approaching her were irritated, like messing her head, said opposite of how he felt about her.
