I watched ALP years ago but I can say to you that this drama is a standalone drama. It is just the author of the novel decided to create a new novel dedicated to Yue Mi and Tian Qi who are the second couple in that drama.

Yue Mi is Xing Yue and Tian Qi is Jing Yuan. They changed the name of the characters due to copyright since these dramas aired on separate platforms. Moonlight Mystique story arc is far different from ALP so it's safe to say there is now little to no connection between the two, you can watch this alone without watching the other one if you want to. However, if you want to see how Yue Mi and Tian Qi met and their relationship before they fell inlove, you can check out ALP.

So here is short summary of what happened to Yue Mi and Tian Qi in ALP. Tian Qi is one of the Gods who shares brotherhood with Bai Jue (the lover of Shanggu & ML in ALP), then Yue Mi is also one of the Goddess who is best friends with Shanggu (lover of Bai Jue & FL in ALP). Tian Qi shares close bond with Shanggu because he somewhat took care and raised her which explains why she has a rebellious and kinda wild behavior. The two met thanks to their connection to Shanggu. Yue Mi eventually fell inlove with Tian Qi but it was only a one-sided love because Tian Qi never reciprocated her feelings, he has feelings for Shanggu. One tragic event happened where Yue Mi sacrificed her life to protect Tian Qi. After Yue Mi death, Tian Qi suffered a lot and was framed as the killer behind her death. Tian Qi lived most of his life searching for pieces of Yue Mi around the world. He realized Yue Mi's love so late and he also realized late that he has feelings for her too.

For the plot of this drama, it focuses on their second chance for romance. Both Yue Mi and Tian Qi were given a chance to meet again by reincarnating into mortals. Yue Mi/Xing Yue reincarnated into Bai Shuo and something happened to Tian Qi/Jing Yuan while he was searching for pieces of Yue Mi so he ended up being reincarnated to Fan Yue.
