Yes yes YES exactly how I felt! Why was the show so hell bent on killing people unnecessarily?? On joo appa died like 5 mins after seeing his kid because apparently he’s a superhuman that swam in water with a bullet wound but can’t avoid some distracted zombies, Na yeon seemed to have been set up for a redemption but just died, Teacher seemed set up to go far with the kids but runs after a stupid Na yeon and dies, Jimin literally just runs off away from the group because the pink sweater girl falls on the ground and plays some tag with surrounding zombies before getting eaten, CHEONG-SAN the most useful and character-developed kid freakin gets no justice and is blinded and blown up along with that heartless devil Gwi-nam that deserved WAY more pain?! They just killed off characters in the most unsatisfying ways! And don’t get me started with the way the bullied zombie girl just got caught anti-climatically. Maybe they were going for a hopeless apocalypse but at least make it so the audience can at least feel something, and that usually comes through adding some small hope or fleshed out characters! And in my opinion, both were mostly missing, save for Cheong-san and Nam-ra. I literally cared for no other kid or person. Whew okay done ranting.
I watched the first ep but wasn't sold... it had this weird surfacial feel, like it feels like the drama is trying to say that it's really deep and well thought through in plot, but it doesn't come across like that for me. Without spoilers could someone tell me if this is worth watching and why you think so?
This drama was pretty good, but I think the low key resolution of the killer mystery reduced the enjoyment for me. And there are some parts that feel unexplored, like Seung-jae cheating through school and quitting being a doctor (and maybe a computer/tech related profession too?) The dude is clearly smart, so my head canon is that he just had overly low self-esteem that made him give in in that moment with Prof. Kim's laptop but idk, some more character building for him would have been really nice.
Another thing that bothered me was how mean Prof. Yang and Kim, and even the classmates sometimes could be to themselves, but maybe I don't get it because I don't study law. Like, why did they always undermine each other as they chased after a loophole or whatever they needed to continue with their case? It felt unnecessary. I'd leave that study group, that's for sure lol.
Lastly, this might just be me, but did anyone else feel Joon hwi was sus? Boy was always at the right place at the right time, always discovering and moving the plot along. Like, I was 60% sure he would turn out to be the mastermind of the crime at the end. That was pretty weird and uncomfortable, especially when he would always be around Sol A's place at the "right" time. But anyways that's all I thought was lacking, still an enjoyable drama. I really appreciated Ye-Seul's arc! (though it physically hurt to see a number of eps go by without any of her friends picking up the abuse signs :( ) It's a great message for those who have suffered from sexual assault and abuse.
