lmao I comment this every week at this point but GYJ is probably 1 of the prettiest people on the planet, she’s actually stunning! And the way Yiyoung was looking at Dowon in ep 9 was flipping adorable
Like many thousands of other Yoo fans, I just finished watching The Match on Netflix, today being its first day…
I don’t know much about go either but I enjoyed this. The actors did a great job & carried the film.
If you ever want to give a drama with go as the main theme a try then I recommend hikaru no go. It’s a Chinese drama & it’s 10/10. Even as someone who doesn’t really understand go, it makes the games fun to watch. I rewatch it almost every yr!
I’m only halfway but that transition scene when changho is thinking about something that makes him calm & the background becomes his dad’s shop - it was such a smooth transition, really well edited
The only thing that I fastly solve on my own in this show is the question/riddle "What come but never arrive"…
me too haha! 😂 that was the only thing I immediately knew the answer to & it surprised me that it took the contestants some time to figure that out.
But then I realised it’s harder for them bc I guess it’s not a common riddle for their culture?? (I live in the UK & have heard the riddle since I was a kid) + it was literally in a different language from their native so it made sense why it took them some time
the contestants are all so smart in their own ways, it’s really fun to watch! I enjoy seeing their different strategies. Justin, Sohee, Harin, Hyungyu & Kyuhyun are my top 5 right now, rooting for them!
despite being eliminated, sanggyeon really impressed me - esp in ep 3! the exiling other players so boldly was really fun to watch, he was close to winning. and it’s more impressive when you take his age into account too, he did a great job 👏
i don’t understand why Kyu Hyun told Ji Yeong that he was born in 1987 then backtracked and said early 1988.…
I’m not Korean so obviously I don’t have a full grasp of the culture but I think age-wise there’s generally a hierarchy in Korean culture.
And people of the same age are all “friends” so I think he was implying that bc he’s born in early-88, he’s basically 87. As in, he probably has a lot of friends/classmates who are 87 & he disregards the hierarchy when it comes to them bc they’re his friends, not his “elders”. I hope that makes sense?? Idk if that’s right though, it’s just what I think makes sense from that scene. It’ll be better if someone who understands the culture could explain
