Each streaming platform has its own budget system. For example, iQIYI doesn’t really do S+ level dramas —…
“S” = super production S+ is like massive budget, A-list cast, big IPs — over $40M S is still high budget, just a bit less — around $20–30M A-level is good quality, smaller scale — $5–20M B-level is like basic web dramas, under $5M
so like Rise of the Phoenixes and Princess Agents = S or even S+ The Untamed, Ashes of Love = def S+ Go Ahead, Put Your Head on My Shoulder = A Hallmark movies? more like B-level lol
they use these rankings to guess how big a drama will be — budget, cast, hype, etc. not official, but ppl in the industry def use it
can someone give me examples of S and S+ dramas? i know it means a high budget and excellent casts, but what shows?
Each streaming platform has its own budget system. For example, iQIYI doesn’t really do S+ level dramas — their highest is usually S. But that doesn’t mean their S-level dramas are lower quality than Tencent’s S+ ones. In general, S or S+ dramas tend to use a lot of CGI. So if you see something with really high-quality CGI, like Love Between Fairy and Devil, it’s probably got an S+ budget. Compare that to something like Back to the Brink, which is more of an A-level production.
People are surprised this isn't S+ considering how well the show is and how amazing their clothes are, but actually a lot of the set and the clothing is borrowed. Goes to show that 2 amazing actors don't need a crazy budget to be able to make an amazing drama.
not to be mean, but i did not think song zu er was pretty considering her mdl photo. just started this show and WOW she's not only a stunner, but actually super talented too!
