no there is no 2nd couple in the novel. Dr Fang didn't have this amount of screen time in the novel. I personally wanted to see them as a couple.

EXACTLY, this drama is a thousand times better than the book. I found the story quite simple while reading the novel; I didn't expect much from the drama. But ep 10 and 11 surprised me and made me realize how beautiful the drama is.
