I like your ideas, instead of feeling rushed they could have shown them maturing with the sweet and realistic touch of the show. How they faced the challenges of growing up and youth. Doesn't matter if they extended to a couple more episodes. And they could have paced baekdo's development and break up better too to make it more understandable for viewers. If it went like that 25 21 would be even more legendary I think.

This ending may have been expected from the start, but you can't deny that there was room for people to hope. Plus every week their growing, mutually respectful love made viewers root for them. Isn't it given that there'd be sadness, despair, anger and heartbreak now? I get both sides of the argument, satisfied vs not, and everyone's entitled to their feelings. I'm among the lot frustrated with the execution of the ending. I'm sad that they chose to show that their love only went so far and couldn't overcome challenges, that they never wanted to meet each other again. The drama wanted to be philosophical and realistic about it but also it seems that realism only applied to the main leads. There are unanswered inconsistencies too. Sigh.

even though im one of those who wasn't really surprised by the bittersweet ending and was easily able to accept…
Agree. It's like he wanted himself to suffer too. Maybe there's some self-blaming there, hopelessness like at the start of the drama, and feeling like he has to shoulder responsibility, like he had to as a big brother and eldest son. Maybe thats how he's wired to think and it was all that, rather than ambition per se, that fuelled his decisions. But yeah I agree, something felt off and didn't make sense idk.

Things that don't make sense: 1) they had this mature, supporting relationship but they couldn't deal with the…
#1 Exactly! If this had been any other drama, they would have made more effort to overcome their shortcomings, just because of #1 alone. They should've extended to 20 episodes and have them work it out because they meant to each other a lot, and it doesn't make sense that they never sought each other again.

Maybe it's because in most dramas I watch the couple always resolve their issues by the end, but this break up felt kinda forced to me. I get it though, it's realistic and unique. But I wish it didn't happen to Baekdo of all couples dammit! πŸ’” Their relationship had really good qualities and they inspired and uplifted each other more than most other drama couples. If they had been in another drama, they'd 100% show them making more effort to overcome their shortcomings because of love. Personally I do relate to Heedo in growing up lonely, but I'd still hold on a bit harder because connections so meaningful are hard to come by in life. The fact that a couple like Baekdo came to such an end will make me have trust issues seriously. 😭 These are my thoughts upon finishing but yeah I'm glad it's a wrap though.

There are all kinds of FL friendships in dramas, but I haven't seen one so influential and multidimensional like Heedo-Yurim before. I love it and I live for their matches especially. Future dramas should take notes!

Because happy endings are man-made and life is naturally bittersweet for most if not all of us
Yeah it sucks. For the drama tho I still hope there's a happy ending because where else can you get them πŸ₯²

I think it says something about us as a society or something that we see a sad bittersweet ending as more realistic…

Friendship >>>>> Some friends you can never see romantically despite how strong the bond is. And you need friends…
They just started a relationship in the 2nd half of the drama so i think there's not enough time to say if they'll develop each other as they spend more time together dating. YR is comforted by JW's presence and JW wants to share YR's worries so I think that's a good starting point for a couple. JW is a good guy, but SW is way too great and deserves so much more I think. She cares more about social issues than dating, and if she does need to date she'd be better off with someone on a similar wavelength who values her concerns for the world.

SHE IS A SINGLE MOM AND SW IS THE ALL SHE HAS. MAYBE THIS CAN EXPLAIN HER BEHAVIOUR.
I'm an only child too so from experience I don't think that's it. Most parents want their kids to be in the safe zone and make their decisions for them. Very rarely do they follow their kid's choice when it's something as obviously risky as this

Title Twenty Five Twenty One Spoiler
I think they were trying to set an example with Seungwan's mom because realistically, most asian moms would NOT be so cool to let their top-scoring daughter drop out one month before final exams. As least mine, who is unsentimental and career minded like Heedo's mom, would never hear of it. So I appreciate SW's mom's reaction because if she had objected SW's decision on something that involved SW's values, she would be pretty lost and that would also impact her self-confidence from that pivotal point onwards.

With how smooth and positive it's going with only 4 more episodes to go, I just can't see a sad ending coming out of nowhere. That would be like, anticlimactic. Please stay happy 2521 πŸ™
