I haven't read book 2,3 of the novel but can see many hints that the Hira family is quite rich and prestigious,…
I read somewhere, probably from a tweet, that Hira's grandfather was a very famous photographer so Hira's family probably inherited his fortune.
It also said that Hira will become a well-known photographer himself. He'll be surrounded by handsome models, but eventually people will find out that Hira is actually more handsome than the models he photographs. The reason no one took notice was that Hira's handsomeness was hidden by Hira's haircut.
I don't know of any of this is true so perhaps someone can confirm if they've read all novels.
Yes. I was talking with someone about HK and UK, and i have said that i like more UK because the story, characterization…
I second that. I wasn't aware of the source materials for either series when I started watching them so I had low expectations. However, I was more drawn to UK than KH from the beginning for all the reasons you mentioned, fell in love with it by Ep4 and have since put KH and others on hold because I have UK on repeat. There are just too many layers to unpack in each scene and between scenes and they require a deep dive to catch the small details that matter. Thanks to Viki’s great subs I can now start to rewatch the series with a heightened experience.
I also want to thank everyone for sharing your thoughts on this page. I signed up for an MDL account because I cared enough about UK to want to spend my time supporting it with like-minded fans. I understand we all bring our culture, traumas, memories, and experiences to a series or any content we consume and will have different points of views. I welcome that because I enjoy reading the various interpretations; they help me better understand my own thinking/perception and form words to express what I’m feeling. Like I’m really impressed by your thought process and ability to express yourself so beautifully in writing. What I don’t appreciate is when antis cross the line and expend their energy on hating a series and attacking the actors and the team behind it. As Ximmich said, let’s respect everyone’s preferences so 1) we can learn from each other and 2) we can encourage creators to put out more diverse and great BL content. We all need a little escape from the world’s problems, especially now, so I hope we can be a little kinder to one another.
Time to thank the language barrier that protects him from it bc no way it's japanese fans 😂
I'm fuming just thinking about that. Whatever happened to human decency? I'm at a lost for words...Btw I like your pfp. I’m obsessed with that story as well and can’t wait until Jan.31st.

You're right. I forget that some antis take it too far. Why does it seem like this kind of thing happens more often to actors/actresses in Asia than those of other countries? Do antis not see the acting profession as seriously in Asia? If they want to use labels like "toxic" or "bullying" it baffles me that they aren't looking back at themselves.

Protection of language barrier, love that! I'm thinking or hoping that the actors have already developed a thick skin since they’ve been in the entertainment business for some time. It’s like that one saying, if you put yourself in the arena you're bound to get hate but always remember that those people’s opinions don’t matter because you’re living a brave life.
Thank you for the link. I voted for this series. But the number of votes the series received is very few. I think…
I'm sad too! I've seen all the other Y series on the list and currently watching the one that's airing now and even like 1-2 of them but this series deserves the top spot. I'm going to continue voting for it until the very end. If the Chinese fans can back this up there's a good chance it can win, but I just don't know if they know or how involved they are in this kind of thing.
I'm not familiar with how things are handled in Japan or if this has already been discussed somewhere. Any thoughts…
Thank you! It’s too bad there isn’t an official distribution partner in China. It’d be great if there was some sort of coordination between fans to help the production company with their digital strategy, but I understand it’s challenging due to language and cultural barriers. I just hope enough fans take action on some of the things you suggested to support the actors and the production team.
Guys if you are keen for a second season, please consider supporting the show officially at https://chara-info.net/utsukushiikare/.…

You expressed yourself very well here, but I understand what you mean. I started this series with no expectations…
LOL Yeah, so many emotions were conveyed in all those scenes. They all hit me all at once since I can only understand a little bit of Japanese. I just hope they end the series on a high note so perhaps we can at least get a special episode or something if not a second season.
I don't know how to describe my feelings. I'm smashed. I can't find words to describe my feelings. Are the words…
You expressed yourself very well here, but I understand what you mean. I started this series with no expectations (I was not familiar with the author, novel, or audio adaptation) and fell deeply in love with it like you. I love that the characters are complex and multi-layered and I appreciate the approach the actors and production team took. I’m waiting to watch Ep5 with good subs so I can fully take it all in. As you said, each scene is packed with so many details; I can’t wait to read more comments because one person cannot catch them all.
Oh interesting!! Thanks for bringing this up because I've been thinking about these details too but I thought…
I thought about those two scenes too. They’re important because they mark a transition or growth in their relationship in each episode. And you’re right about why Hira offered one drink over the other and why Kiyoi consistently ended up choosing whatever Hira chose for him. It was definitely his way of validating Hira’s genuine care for and devotion to him in both scenes, but the scene in EP4 was different in that it was not only a nostalgic moment but also a contrast to the scene in Ep1. This time we can see Kiyoi’s feelings and affection towards Hira has changed while Hira still behaves very much the same towards Kiyoi.
I also think the drinks are symbolic of their personalities. Kiyoi is like ginger ale - spicy and sweet with unexpected bouts of bursts. And Hira is like water - pure and subdued, devoted to only one flavor. Perhaps I’m reading too much into this because I’m obsessed with this series lol.
It also said that Hira will become a well-known photographer himself.
