It's like his erased memories unlocked this devil-may-care attitude that may have always been present in Shao Cang, but was suppressed due to his sect's influence and cultivation achievement. You could actually see some signs of it if you go back and rewatch Ji Yang scenes prior to memory loss. It also doesn't seem unbelievable to me that he can still show a softer side towards NY as Yin because, essentially, he is Shao Cang's soul who fell in love with her and recognized her by instinct.
MangoTV also put up billboard promotions at different busy intersection to promote the drama on Qixi Festival Day. Even if "dad" is a deadbeat, at least "mom" still loves us 🥲
