If you want to watch a funny, light and very entertaining action story with Uhm Jung Hwa as a kiss-ass FL, Lee Sang Yoon as a bad guy!, Kim Nam Gil having fear of flying, Bae Jung Nam as the most hilarious steward and so many familiar faces in one set, then this movie is for you! Perfect for a weekend night watch xD
“Bori” is an inspiring, endearing film dealing with hearing disabilities from a different, new perspective: it sheds light on the life of a CODA (Children Of Deaf Adults) child in a deaf family, who may be considered as “normal” outside home, but within the family sometimes feels like being the special, “abnormal” one. Director Kim Jin Yu, who was also raised by a deaf mother, successfully managed to emphasize the common parts disabled and non-disabled people share without utilizing hearing impairment as an unfortunate tear-jerking component, the importance of real friends, who see the person rather than the disability, and how family love and acceptance is unconditional.
One of the most successful movie adaptations I've watched, about the wonderful world of mathematics and an unusual friendship, based on Ogawa Yoko's great novel 'The Housekeeper and the Professor'. Fantastic cast, cinematography and music, and a quiet, poetic, heartwarming, simplistic and minimalistic story-telling, without any unnecessary manipulative, forced emotional burden. A great watch for math lovers or not xD
Not for everyone, since it's a slow-paced, documentary-like story focused on sake brewing, but I personally found the story unique and realistic, the cinematography, scenery and music brilliant and the acting great. With only 3 episodes, it's worth a try!
A sincere and realistic approach of gay marriage and the adopting and raising of a child in this family, as well as its impact on their every day life: school, family and friends, authorities. Furthermore, it explores the problems, struggles and consequences, such as homophobic bullying, social and legal discrimination and prejudice.
