is there anyone here whom it's their first time to watch a sageuk?? my friend wants to watch it bc i keep tweeting…
I think an older sageuk would be better as a first one since they have longer episodes and would explain more historical socio context. Like Jewel in the Palace (2003) [the drama where I learned about court ladies from), Dong Yi (2010), etc.

So true ^^ if they want to see a drama where a court lady happily becomes a concubine, imo they should go watch Dong Yi (I’m not insulting that drama btw).

Would you rather be a concubine or a court lady?
A concubine isn’t allowed to leave the palace, has to wait all day for the king, is pressured to give birth to royalty while a court lady despite being “lowly” can at least go outside the palace on limited days off. Although court ladies weren’t allowed to get married, I can see why Deok Im refused being a concubine for a long time.
