I couldn't wait to leave home and start living my own life (i was 17 when i left but i had a job) The only reason i'm back at home now is because my mothers getting older and frailer (she turned 91 in Dec last year) and i'm the only single child so what do you do, she wont leave the family home because in her words "Your father and i bought this land and built this house in 1956ish so the only way i'm leaving is when i'm in a box".
