So we have always seen a Butterfly around Niran from the very first episode.. The butterfly always guided him…
Oohh interesting take. Hmm significance of the butterfly I would link to spirits and grandpa, cos in chinese folk mythology, we often link butterflies as spirits and loved ones that passed. Hopefully we'll see more! Parbdee just updated their logo and the butterfly is still in play~

I have a doubt - what exactly was fear of Jia Hao ? And how come hurting himself helped , also when others defeated…
His fear I feel is being stuck in the mundane, amongst rules and duties of Wu, he doesnt like being held down and wants to do things his way. That's why he appears to drink for fun, to get along with life, while still doing his best in the endless yao management. Thats my take at least :)

Title Wu Spoiler
i didn't understand what he meant by that? how does that help pete?
Hmm, my take is Niran considered releasing Qirong to save Ploy but he cant tell anyone about it. Fei would have stopped it because her ultimate goal is to seal Qirong and save the political turmoil happening, who knows if she will turn to other WUs to make it happen. (not that its a bad intent, but its just a very complex situation.) But, Pete's main goal is to save his sister. He went in thinking he can save his sister. That's his last surviving kin. He cant lose her too, after his parents.

Niran, Fei and Jiahao are all aware of this but did not give Pete the full truth because they do need everyone to be 110% in for the ritual. If not theres not even a chance to even go ahead, or a chance to save ploy.

It was a do or dont be damned situation for Niran, but ultimately he chose to release a weakened Qirong and all the innocent spirits cos by right they can still attempt to seal again.

This episode is EPIC! It's so layered and nuanced. We get a bigger and better look of each character through their trials set up by Qi Rong during the Ritual. AND how would've thought that Game Theory and Prisoner's Dilemma is in play post ritual?!

I loved how intense the whole episode is. Every cast and crew DELIVERED!!

I just finished Episode 5.. omg I'm super speechless. It is really worthy of the big screen. OMG. The intensity, the whole arc, the theatrics, the character and relationship growth between the characters, especially Niran and Pete.

The Humour too! Timing was impeccable!

Absolutely loved today's episode. The character develoment in Pete, the steadiness of Niran's character to ground Pete and help him tame the demon, his pride and care towards Pete.

Omg I loved every bit of it. I cried for Pete, and felt grounded even more with Niran's words. His words and worries further show his cares for Pete.

We understand Pete alot more this episode and more insights to why he has outbursts and bad outlook of his life etc. Want to give him a big big hug. <3

No wonder Nani wants us to watch EP 5 on a big screen. SO EXCITING! Cant wait for Next Tuesday~~~

it's a chinese metaphor for the PM leaning towards a bigger "power" to get rid of Bao Cheng.
No problem at all :) Chinese is a very character context language, but I thought the EN subs would have gotten an equivalent for better understanding. Who knows they actually translated it directly for context

There’s a lot of Mandarin in this series, and honestly, more than necessary. And considering the context of…
There's actually quite a number of Hakka people in SEA, but based on character, Niran and Grandpa lived in Betong, Yala, Southern Thai, where there's quite a number of Hakka Chinese population, and its near to the Malaysian borders as well.

As to why Mandarin - its the Standard dialect spoken and taught across Asia. In SEA, even though the more common dialect are Teochew, Hokkien, Cantonese, etc, these are also secondary dialects to Mandarin.

Hakka is mostly only used in chants in the show.
