I am actually reading the translated version in Vietnamese, which is almost a true translation of Chinese because in the old days, Vietnamese uses actually Chinese words and characters. All the old phrases are the same. I heard there is an English translation on Watpad. I also post some interesting chapters in the discussion. The book is quite long and very descriptive. Both ML and FL have interesting stories.

I’m excited for this drama but have some major concerns. Production companies tend to water down shows for money.…
I think it should be good. I am reading the book. They show some scenes in the trailer that are similar to the book. I think if the story is good, it should be fine. The story itself has a lot of meat so they don't need to make up extra filler scenes.

Not sure if you also saw the excepts of LB and CSS scenes translated by dedicated Wu Lei fans on discussions page
It's getting exciting in the 3rd theme of the book. I just translated a short description of a scene when they met after 5 years.

You can skip the palace drama and still be ok (it doesn't add to the story) ... It'll get better after.
It's ok better than wasting time! 😂 After 20, it's starting to get better. And the last 6 episodes are really good!

Maybe I’ve outgrown it but there was just too much palace, political, power struggle scenes. I couldn’t watch…

I hope the drama will translate the novel well and give justice to the characters
I think it will from what I hear. They are taking away the time travel part and most likely will develop the ML's side. There are scenes from the trailers that translate directly to scenes from the book.

I added the Excerpts from the novels in the Discussion above. If anyone had read the novel, please participate. She is a talented writer who can come up with beautiful descriptive sensory details, metaphors, and similes.

It's not going to be 100% like the novel, as far as I know they deleted the heroine's time travel part and it…
I agree! It's so funny the way he was trying match up the ML and FL!

Wow really! TBH, I think that's the right move to remove the time travel part. But in a way, she is interesting to him (and other men) because she's different (modern perspective, independence). I hope they will not recreate the Palace drama like WRtW. I am only on Chapter 64. It's starting to get interesting.

they better don't mess up with this one too 😡😡😡When it comes to story, people don't care who is more…
Since both stars of this drama are almost on equal footing, I hope that it will be balanced. Although having read LLTG halfway, the FL's story is more interesting. The ML's background is typical. The FL's personality and background in this story are so interesting. So far in the novel (up to halfway now), most of it is FL's story.

This was a very disappointing drama. It started out fun, but it went down to being unwatchable. I do like 7Tan, but this drama story is too unrealistic. The chemistry started out fine but around 20+, it started to derail. I hope she will be in a better drama next time.

I'd like to read it but my Chinese isn't good enough to understand the novel. Ancient idioms, positions and conversations…
I got to the part where they met ... the description of the ML is very close to the actor's looks. It's a time travel story but more serious than WRTW. So far I like it.

I would read it if there was an English translation but so far there is just a few snippets translated by some…
Thank you. I am reading it in Vietnamese which is almost an exact translation because old Vietnamese is actually Chinese. It's a tough novel to read. I think it would lose meanings in English translation. I can understand why there is no English translation yet because the novel is long and very descriptive!

This is a tough one to read. Not like WRTW. Very descriptive and wordy. Uses old terminology. I am reading it in Vietnamese, which is very close to Chinese because there is exact words translation (old Vietnamese is actually old Chinese which uses short terms to describe a lot of things). Although I only have 5th grade level reading in Vietnamese, I am used to reading old text because I read The Monkey King and Condor Heroes series many times when I was in 5th grade by myself. It's like reading Shakespeare : you pick up the terminologies as you go through inferences. Yep it's tough.

He is a little stiff. The shoulder is too straight.
In EP39 at 10:16 while talking to his teacher, he looks unnatural because his back is too straight.

Title Who Rules the World Spoiler
Review of this drama from a perspective of a person who has read the novel
It's a fact: most story plots in C Drama have loopholes, editing issues, fillers, inconsistencies, etc ... If there is a standard or competition that the writers can compete as in the Emmys, there would be more inspiring stories. Economic factors and taste rule the C drama world. Most endings have a similar feel: ML has 10 years left to live - well that's been done in The Princess Wei Young ... If a drama's ending (or anything else) is shown to be successful, then it is replicated to another drama.

So the best that the audience can expect is that the drama is entertaining and has good acting. This drama delivers these two aspects well.

The FL is outstanding in her delivery of this dramatic and fun role. She delivers convincing acting as a queen, warrior, and fun-loving girl with a big personality. At her age, she is totally convincing as someone who can rush to block out the canons without thinking about the consequences. She is just perfect for this role. I don't think there is another person who can act better because this role fits her personality so well.

The ML is also convincing in his role ... although he is a little stiff. His back is always too straight ... which makes him look like he is acting instead of being immersive in a role. But he is decent compared to other C actors who look handsome but cannot act.

Overall, if you accept that most C dramas are not perfect, this drama is as good as it gets. Read the novel. I think it will give you a better understanding and a more satisfying ending. However, I do like that they changed the novel to include an evil person that everyone fights against. This makes it more realistic than just playing chess on the war field. Humans are always predictable so it makes sense to have an arch evil that everyone can unite and fight against.
