I've updated my rating for this drama from a 10 to an 8.5. The last arc is disappointment for me. The first 2 arcs - their meeting in a small village and her development in the arm were both perfect.

But then in the book, the way the ML treated the FL is also borderline. I am glad though she hits him back for lack of respect!

They skip a lot. Only added in the scenes when he received his punishment.

I agree with you. The way they portrayed him in the beginning seemingly justifying his actions. In the book there was no going back to save Yu Qian Qian during the flooding. I think basically to hire good actors, they need to expand the role of these actors.

I agree! But I wish instead of focusing on humor towards the end, they should at least show that the love between the MLs had a lot of conflicts. To be together, he had to suffer and overcome many obstacles. The path of true love is never smooth. They show that in the love story of QMin, who is absolutely crazy but you feel for him because of his sacrifices for Yu Qian Qian.

UPDATE after ep 30
I am disappointed with the drama adaptation of the book as it loses focus and tension towards the end, after 30. And the fact that there's no tension between the leads on the revenge motif. It's not believable (just my opinion - so no need to me tell to drop the drama - I will if it continues to be on this track). Anyways they have to make extra money and fill up to ep 40.
For those who love this drama, I highly recommend reading the book.
You can read my review as I added all the details of the mystery of 17 years ago.

Sounds like Grandpa and his team... The conversation sounds exactly like grandpa's voice and mannerism. :-)

Tomorrow's trailer shows an unknown guy came to pick up the cash.
Team JMi got the guy. Wonder what happens next but seems like it was ok to see the mom afterwards. hmmm.

You are welcome! I have problem connecting all the names so this really helps me understand the story.
I think the director tries to make it dramatic. So far, I haven't seen that scene yet in the book. Only the brother is captured and the flood water.

What happened is the book is more complicated. For example, after both QQ and her son were rescued by Fan Changyu. QM sent the Shadow Guards after her. He obsessively likes her.

She saves him at the lake - this is in chapter 127

In the book, the story between the leads are more dramatic.

Read Scarfie's comment. They are spot on. Unless you fully understand all Chinese culture, its history, the way…
No one is perfect. We have prejudices. But if some one points out to me, I will correct it so I can improve myself.
It's NOT a minor thing to people who feel offended by it.

The fact he that he apologized already shows that he knew he had erred. As his fan, you should be happy that your idol is a good guy who does the right thing. Hopefully, he will make no mistake in the future. He can say whatever he wants at home and among Chinese people. But when he is an international star, he has the power to make the world a better, not worse, place!

A Chinese friend who has seen the show said before he made the comments people on set were laughing and calling…
He apparently said that the portrait looked like SEA and then also said it looked like a famous Taiwanese comedian.

Clearly, he thought the caricature looked comical and laughable.

Anyways, it's probably doesn't matter in China because people there are used to say bad things about other races.

Unfortunately, he is popular enough that other people also see this racist comment.

I agree that there is NO misunderstanding. It's a common racist comment in China.

What is the connection between him and TP?
Then it must be the Dad!! I knew that the drama wants us to believe that TP did it.

Racism is about stereotyping. He points to the picture and generalizing that's what an SEA person looks like.…
It's not about how the drawing looks. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder so what might look good to you can look bad to me. To be honest, the drawing looks awful to me. The unkempt hair, thick lips, bushy brows, etc ... all point to an unpleasant vibe to me. And that's probably why he didn't accept it as his own picture. It does look like an exaggerated caricature of his overall looks.

The key is stereotyping a race is a form of racism.

For example, Asians are being stereotyped as "hardworking" "studious" etc ... even though these qualities may sound positive, they are racism stereotyping to put Asians down as not creative.

Also when people stretch their eyes to make the almond shape, they may look cute but it's very offensive to us. They never said anything but it's racism.

In China, racism is real. It's interwoven in the culture. Chinese government does nothing to stop it. For example, racism is rampant about black people there.

Racism is about stereotyping. He points to the picture and generalizing that's what an SEA person looks like. NOT all SEA people look like like that.
Again, no one is trying to bring him down. He apologized. It shows decency.

It's not minor to people who have suffer racism. No one is picking on him. In fact, I still watch his dramas if they are good. The fact that he apologized shows that he is a decent human being.
Don't worry, everyone behaving incorrectly like him is also "picked" on world wide when discovered by the internet.
It's only in China that racism exists and the government doesn't police them.
