I love this drama but your review made me appreciate it more. The thing you said, that the simplicity of the story makes us so invested is something I hadn't realised until now. I hate overdramatic scenes and cliché storylines, and this drama was full of simple, everyday dialogue and because the characters were well written and the acting good, it made for a more impactful experience. I've only seen this with one more cdrama so far: Falling Into You.

This drama was good in all aspects, but lacked the depth for me to connect with emotionally. Still, Lee Ji Ah makes for a scary ghost

The moms of cdramas are stereotypically portrayed as backward thinking and I can't relate. I'm hoping for a cdrama with more understanding parents. We can only hope. But in this one, they seem to get that he wants this relationship

i'm going on a limb cause i don't know chinese, but maybe it's the translation? i mean, she could have said i'm sorry as in 'i feel bad' rather than 'sorry, i shouldn't have done that'. cause if it's the latter, i totally agree with you that she and no woman owes her male friend anything and least an explanation about her personal life
