So with all this in mind, why in the world would the casting director(s) do this?? Are they so confident that his past won't play a part when it's going through getting its distribution license or they trying to sabotage the film from the very beginning? I don't understand what they are trying to achieve here.

Who are his backers? And since we all know that actors with strong backers in China have it easier, it's not far fetched to say CY is also being 'bullied' into accepting this arrangement. It's not a good look when TWO casting directors are backing up a small role instead of the lead.

Makes you wonder if CY is getting the short end of the stick if heavy backers want an artist with a past to really be in this production. Doesn't seem like a promising collaboration if this continues. And he's going to get blamed if it flops because it didn't meet expectations or if anything else goes wrong since he's the headline for it. What a messy start to such an exciting announcement.
