The thing I wonder about is that they clearly dated and possibly lived together in Seoul but for some reason came back to Jeju where the Father stepped in and separated them. I wonder if they were engaged to be married and they came back to get permission and let their families know and he completely disapproved of it to the point of splitting them up. What a complete arsehole the ML father is, I appreciate there is some sort connection between the death of his wife and FML mother (which at the end of the day will be a tragic accident) but clearly the FML and ML were very much and still are in love with each other and he stopped/stopping them from being together to the point where he locked up his own son.
