I'm really glad I decided to watch this regardless of all the comments saying not to. In my opinion, it wasn't half as bad I was expecting it to be and I genuinely did enjoy the story. However, I do agree that some parts did feel a little out of place and there is one particular scene in an episode that I couldn't watch unmuted due to the second-hand embarrassment. It dealt with a more mature topic than the average kdrama and I felt the chemistry was really good. One of the things that let it down for me was one pairing's ending - I just didn't feel like it was very earned considering he didn't like her one bit throughout the whole drama and she just kept pushing.

Definitely agree with your last point, I’ve tried a few other Republican era dramas but none have looked as good as this.

Really enjoyed this drama and thought the chemistry between the leads was amazing. I agree that the last few episodes really let it down, particularly with his brother entering the picture. It was just unnecessary considering there were already roadblocks in their relationship and it completely changed Gu Sheng Nan's character for no reason. I was glad to see an older more sophisticated ML in a Chinese drama that balanced well with a more fun-loving younger FL.

It's been a couple of months since I completed this and I still cannot get over it. Ha Ji Won has always been a favourite of mine and having never seen Ji Chang Wook in anything before I was hooked pretty much from the first episode. Their chemistry together is amazing and the OST is perfect. 10/10 for me!

I still can't believe I watched this entire series without skipping, it was that addicting! I feel this may be a slightly unpopular opinion but the character of Kang Mo just wasn't charismatic enough for me to carry the series nor was his tiring back and forth with the FL. The "villain" Min Woo and his romance was far superior to watch but thankfully he does have a lot of screen-time. I truly miss binging this and getting excited for every episode but if anyone is on the fence about diving into this whopping 60 ep drama I don't think you'll be disappointed!

Really do not understand the negative comments on this, it's one of my all time favourites! I usually don't have the patience (or brain cells) to sit through a political plot but I found this to be interesting. It was a treat to look at what with the beautiful main leads and the setting/costumes. Yes I obviously do wish the ending was different but it's a story that really stays with you and the OST is to die for. I wouldn't let the rating influence your decision to watch as it really doesn't reflect how good it is in my opinion.
