Wait until you get to ep 07. The acting of Tsuno kun is amazing.

Agree with the sentiment here. I prefer the subtlety in Japanese dramas in general. It feels more human and closer to reality. I guess these probably aren't meant to be compared together, as they can be sort of on the two ends of the spectrum.

Ep 8 made me so heart-broken. Tsuno kun is the best boy in the series

Episode 9 haunted me in a way I have not felt for a long time. Masterpiece.

I like her realization from "I am being very polite" to "I am being so rude by presuming I am polite."

I think this is exactly where it shows she tries to be "normal." You said the same thing the protagonist said to her that she could have given up the tennis club so she could stop papa katsu (sex work). To me, it is her coping mechanism to keep her life worth living by continuing her studies as a medical school student (better prospects for the future) and being in the tennis club (her perception of being a "normal" college student). If she only does things that keep her alive but there's no hope in the future, there's no point. She is willing to sacrifice to a level to trade a potentially better life, which is a career in the medical field with her medical degree. If she gives up the tennis club and/or even the medical school, there isn't much to look forward to in the future I think.

I am at ep 2. Am I the only one who feels the main characters are too deliberate in their acting? I was interested in this because of the good reviews and the great cast, but so far I am not feeling the charm and am thinking about dropping it.
