Overrated
While the story itself was strong, the execution left much to be desired.First, the editing felt quite messy,scenes often cut off at odd points, and some episodes felt more like random segments pieced together rather than full, coherent episodes. Episode 27, for example, gave most of the screen time to side characters, which disrupted the pacing of the main storyline.
Another issue for me was He Yan’s disguise. I honestly don’t understand how she managed to fool everyone, her mannerisms, compared to the other Yezhou garrison soldiers, were distinctly feminine and almost childish, making her cover less believable.
I was also disappointed with Yan He’s death. It seemed included only for shock value, but it didn’t really land emotionally or add much to the storyit felt unnecessary.
That being said, I’ll give credit where it’s due: the fighting scenes were very well executed and definitely a highlight of the series.
Overall, this drama had potential and an interesting story, but the poor editing, questionable writing choices, and overhype online made it fall short for me.

Started Strong but it was getting weird at some point
This show started off so strong, but then completely went downhill. One of my biggest pet peeves in dramas is grown adults who never know what they want and can’t form their own opinions. For a 12-episode drama, how many times did they seriously need to break up?The script also wasn’t great. At times, it genuinely felt AI-generated because the dialogue and character decisions made no sense. And I’m sorry, but I absolutely could not stand Xiao Cheng’s character. He constantly looked spaced out, confused, and like he had no idea what was going on around him.

Felt like I wasted my time_ The storyline could have been way better
I honestly feel like this drama was a waste of my time.It started off so strong. The first half was engaging, and I was genuinely excited to see what the future had in store for the main characters. But when the story finally reached that point, it just didn't deliver the way I expected.
Once the female lead returned, the pacing completely lost me. Several episodes felt like they were full of nothing, and I kept wondering whether I was watching a romance or an office investigation. The story seemed to lose sight of what made it so compelling in the beginning.
This might be an unpopular opinion from the reviews but I found the drama boring. Ironically, I thought the younger version of the female lead was much more mature and interesting than her adult self. The romance also felt almost nonexistent. One episode the leads would share a kiss, and in the next they would act as if nothing had happened. There was barely any emotional progression, making it difficult to become invested in their relationship.
On top of that, so many plot points and questions were left unanswered, which made the ending feel unsatisfying.
Overall, I didn't find this drama as poignant or emotionally impactful as I had hoped. I went into it expecting something with the emotional depth of Twelve Letters or The First Frost, but it never came close. It left me wondering whether the drama would have been as successful if the two main leads weren't already such popular actors.

Overhyped, Lacking Substance
While Bon Appétit, Your Majesty is clearly a cooking-focused show as suggested by the title it felt like it should’ve been more than just food and kitchen scenes. The premise had potential: a royal figure, time travel, and an unexpected dive into culinary arts. But unfortunately, the show fell short in execution.The romance angle was underdeveloped, and the backstory of the deposed queen didn’t go deep enough. There was so much emotional and historical weight they could’ve explored, but instead, the plot just stalled.
After the first two episodes, it started feeling repetitive. Every episode followed nearly the same formula, with very little actual plot progression. One major frustration was the lack of explanation for how his Majesty ended up in the present time — a huge plot point that was glossed over entirely.
Overall, the show had great potential and a unique concept, but it lacked depth and forward momentum. With better storytelling and more character development, it could’ve been something really special.

very disapointed
was extremely disappointed in this show. While I had high hopes going in, it quickly became clear that My Generation sends a harmful and outdated message — especially to younger viewers.The portrayal of the female lead constantly chasing after a man who shows little to no interest was frustrating and, frankly, embarrassing. It reinforces the idea that a woman's worth is tied to male validation, which is not only untrue but damaging. Young girls need to see strong, independent characters who understand that there's more to life than pursuing someone who is clearly not reciprocating.
In 2025, we should be promoting self-respect, ambition, and emotional maturity — not desperation masked as romance. Disappointing and out of touch.

I’m actually quite surprised to see so many positive reviews for Shine on Me. For me, the show was pretty boring from start to finish. The plot barely developed, and it often felt like the story was just going in circles instead of building toward anything meaningful.There were several episodes that felt completely unnecessary, adding little to no value to the overall narrative. Instead of deepening the characters or pushing the story forward, they just dragged on with repetitive interactions and filler scenes. It made the pacing feel uneven and slow.
What’s strange is that, technically, a lot seems to happen after the female lead and male lead meet at the office. There are plenty of scenes and interactions between them, yet none of it feels impactful. Despite all the screen time they share, their relationship development feels shallow and stretched out rather than compelling or emotional.
Overall, the drama had potential, but the lack of strong plot progression and meaningful storytelling made it hard to stay invested. It’s not terrible, but it definitely wasn’t engaging enough to live up to the hype.

Simply the best
From the very first five minutes, I was hooked. The plot, the characters, the acting—everything was executed so well. The 36 episodes flew by, and honestly, it wasn’t enough. What really impressed me was how nothing felt dragged out, which is incredibly rare for dramas with 30+ episodes. Every scene had purpose, and the pacing was tight from start to finish.I loved how straightforward the story was. The FL and ML got married early on, and they were completely honest about their intentions from the beginning. You’d think that having everything out in the open would kill the suspense, but it didn’t—if anything, it made the drama even more engaging. There was so much action, so many heartfelt and even humorous moments.
The camaraderie between the generals was one of my favorite elements. Despite Wei Shao marrying a Qiao, his men remained fiercely loyal to him—and their respect extended to Lady Wei as well. That quiet, unshakable loyalty added a layer of depth and emotion that hit hard. And when Wei Liang died, it was heartbreaking. But the moment that truly wrecked me was when Wei Qu found his body and vowed to bring him home, no matter the cost. That scene will stay with me for a long time.
Why not a perfect 10? The ending, while satisfying in many ways, felt rushed. I would’ve loved to see Lady Wei’s reaction upon learning her cousin had passed. It also would’ve been deeply moving to see the people of Wei welcome their Lord home—and to witness a final, emotional reunion between Wei Shao and his cousin, honoring his sacrifice.
And yes, I was hoping for one last glimpse into Lady Wei’s life—perhaps a second child, just like in the book—so her husband could finally be there for the birth and witness that joy firsthand.
Still, even with those minor shortcomings, The Prisoner of Beauty is an exceptional drama. It reignited my love for historical series and left me craving more. If this is the standard C-dramas are setting now, I’m all in.

Pursuit of Jade is, at its core, a visually stunning production that unfortunately doesn’t quite live up to its full potential. What initially draws you in—and ultimately keeps you watching—is the sheer beauty of its cinematography. Every frame feels carefully composed, from sweeping landscapes to intimate character shots, making the drama undeniably pleasing to the eye.However, I need to point out that they were cutting the scenes weirdly specially in the fighting scenes.
Adding to this appeal is the cast itself. Nearly everyone on screen is strikingly attractive, with both the female lead and male lead delivering not just solid performances but also undeniable visual charisma. Even the villains and supporting characters, like the Xie generals, stand out with their commanding presence. It’s a drama where “face card never declines” truly applies across the board.
However, beyond its visual strengths, the series struggles in several key areas. The writing, in particular, feels repetitive and underdeveloped. The dialogue often circles back to the same points—especially the constant back-and-forth about class differences between the marquis and Changyu. The question of “what do you want to do?” is asked so frequently that it begins to lose impact, making emotional moments feel redundant rather than compelling.
Character development also leaves much to be desired. The male lead, as a marquis, lacks the intensity and authority one might expect from someone in his position. Instead of coming across as powerful or commanding, he often feels subdued—and at times, frustratingly passive. His frequent illnesses don’t help this perception, as it seems like he’s bedridden every few episodes, which further diminishes his presence as a strong leading figure.
Changyu’s arc, while promising, also suffers from unrealistic progression. While it’s established that she was trained by her father, the leap from that foundation to becoming a high-ranking general after only two battles feels rushed and unconvincing. The drama itself acknowledges that battlefield experience is vastly different, yet doesn’t fully justify her rapid rise. This makes her achievements feel less earned, weakening what could have been a powerful storyline.
Additionally, the overall plot lacks momentum. The story doesn’t develop in a particularly engaging way, and the fighting scenes—despite the historical setting—fail to stand out when compared to other dramas in the same genre. For a series involving war and military figures, the action sequences feel surprisingly underwhelming.
In the end, Pursuit of Jade is a drama that excels in aesthetics but falls short in storytelling. It’s worth watching if you appreciate beautiful cinematography and a visually captivating cast, but if you’re looking for strong character development, gripping dialogue, or realistic progression, it may leave you wanting more.

Strong Performances, Forgettable Story
The male and female leads both did a great job with their performances.This is my third drama with Bai Lu. I've previously watched her in Till the End of the Moon and Only for Love, and I was never particularly impressed with her acting. At times, I found it a bit immature. However, she completely changed my opinion in this drama. Her performance was consistently strong from the very beginning, especially through her dialogue delivery. The scene in Episode 34 where she cries at the tomb was absolutely outstanding and, in my opinion, one of the best emotional moments in the series.
As for the drama itself, I thought the plot was easy to follow and well-structured. However, I found the overall pacing quite boring. It took me forever to finish because there were several episodes where I couldn't stay engaged. Sometimes I just let the show play in the background so I could eventually finish it and cross it off my watchlist.
Overall, while the acting especially Bai Lu's was a pleasant surprise, the story never really captivated me. I was honestly surprised to see so many people calling it the best period C-drama of 2026 so far. It simply didn't leave that kind of impression on me.

so much potential but fell short.
It started off strong and really drew me in from the beginning I was captivated by the world and the characters. But around the midway point, the pacing slowed down, and the story started developing in strange and unconvincing directions.And please, can we stop with the amnesia trope? First the female lead, then the male lead it felt repetitive and frustrating like the writers lacked storylines. By that point, I almost didn’t want to finish the show.
Overall, a disappointing execution of what could have been a great drama.

best show about life
I expected this show to be wholesome — but it went far beyond my expectations. When Life Gives You Tangerine is an absolute gem. Beautifully written and masterfully acted, it’s easily one of the best portrayals of life and adulthood I’ve ever seen on screen.This series captures it all — the ups and downs, the sweet and the sour — much like a tangerine itself. It reminds you that the life you dreamed of may not unfold exactly as planned, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be beautiful in its own way.
The characters didn’t have much in terms of money or luxury, but wow — they had love, friendship, and a strong sense of community. And sometimes, that’s more than enough.
When Life Gives You Tangerine is tender, real, and full of quiet wisdom. If you’re looking for something that will make you reflect, smile, and maybe even cry and cry — this is the one.

My Royal Nemesis – Started Strong but Lost Its Way
I don't understand why so many people are calling this the best rom-com so far when shows like Filing for Love and The Perfect Crown exist.My Royal Nemesis was very promising in the beginning, but at some point the story became completely absurd. The main couple seemed to be fighting almost every single day, and their relationship relied heavily on constant misunderstandings and miscommunication. I find it frustrating when grown adults can't communicate properly, and it became repetitive after a while.
Another thing that bothered me was the female lead fainting in what felt like every episode. It quickly became an overused plot device rather than something that added to the story.
As for Cha Se Gye, he was initially portrayed as a fierce, highly capable businessman who excelled in his field. However, as the series progressed, he came across as much softer and less commanding than the character we were introduced to at the start.
Overall, the show had a lot of potential and a strong beginning, but the excessive conflicts, weak communication, and inconsistent character development made it difficult for me to fully enjoy. It wasn't terrible, but it definitely didn't live up to the hype for me.

not very impressive
This drama feels like a compilation of every rom-com trope rolled into one. We’ve got the CEO with a traumatic past and lingering PTSD, the financially struggling female lead whose family owns a restaurant, and of course the childhood-connection trope. It’s not a great drama, but it’s not a bad one either—just something very easy to watch, especially with so many familiar faces in the cast.This might be a little controversial, but I have to say it: Jung So-Min tends to play the same character in most of her dramas (with the exception of Alchemy of Souls). She often falls into the role of a woman who’s a bit lost in life, insecure, and using the same pitch and tone in her delivery.

When Potential Gets… Manipulated
m not sure what’s been going on with K-dramas these last couple of years. So many of them start incredibly strong, only to lose momentum halfway through—and The Manipulated unfortunately falls into that pattern. Personally, I prefer when a series starts slow and gradually deepens its plot, but this one went the opposite route.The first four episodes were absolute bangers. They set up a gripping mystery, tight pacing, and a lot of potential. I was excited—really excited. But as the show progressed, the villain became increasingly cartoony, which pulled me out of the tension the drama worked so hard to build early on.
I was also confused by the reveal that the nanny was actually the mom. The show needed to give us more backstory between the nanny and the villain to make that twist land. Instead, it felt rushed and underdeveloped, which made the emotional payoff fall flat.
Overall, I’m disappointed. The Manipulated had all the ingredients to be something great, but it couldn’t sustain the intensity it opened with. A solid start, but a shaky finish.

Complex people are not for everyone.
When I first heard about this drama, I did not really understand the title. But now I see that she wanter her friend and everything else around herI wish I could say I didn’t understand Sang-Yeon. I wish I could say I hated her. But the truth is... I do understand her.
Cheon Sang-Yeon wasn’t evil. She was broken. Most of what she did came from fear and insecurity — reacting to a world she didn’t know how to trust.
Eun-Jung, on the other hand, was almost too kind, too naive. She just wanted to be loved by everyone. Maybe if she had set firmer boundaries from the beginning, things wouldn’t have gone as far as they did.
Each of them was flawed in their own way. That’s what made it so real. Still, as much as I sympathized with Sang-Yeon, I don’t think she deserved Eun-Jung’s forgiveness — and perhaps, she didn’t even deserve a happy ending. Sometimes, remorse comes too late.
This review might seem conflicting — because my feelings are conflicting. But I think that’s exactly what this show does so well. It makes you sit with the uncomfortable truth that not everyone who’s hurting deserves a second chance... even if you understand why they’re hurting.
