In the beginning I was not sure about the brother. But I began to see there was much more to him than meets the eye. I liked him for the way he protected XQ from the mother when they were children. And even in the later episodes we see him speaking up for XQ with the mother. The part where he told his mother he wished XQ was never adopted into the family was because of the way the mother treated her and hurt her. Then when he said he wished he was never born into the family showed he also suffered under her control. In a sense, XQ helped him survive the mother's control as much as he helped XQ. And there lies his need to hold on to her. But I can also see he wants XQ to be happy. I am not trying to convince you as I can see you are already set in your dislike for the brother. And you are certainly entitled to your own reaction. I can understand that also.

I never thought that. Did not like her from the start. Watch her expressions when the conversation is about rich men.

Once you come to understand her background and their past history, you will like her. They share a once in a lifetime love. Song Yan helped Xu Qin find happiness when they were in high school and college made her love him in a way she will never love anyone else.

She was never nice. Everything she did was calculated for her benefit.

He has always been protective of Xu Qin. From flashbacks you can see there were many times he helped her get through the pains of being controlled by the mother. What he feels for her has a lot to do with the way they came to depend on each other living in that house. I am not sure now if I read it in the book or saw it in the show, but by refusing to take over his father's group and sticking with his division of the business, he found his own form of independence in the same way Xu Qin did when she became a doctor. I hope he finds his own happiness eventually. He is not a bad person.

In episode 30, the rooftop garden shown is not at Song Yan's uncle's house. This is the house he bought for Xu Qin 10 years ago. Based on the novel, he used money from his father. I think it must be in the historical area mentioned by Xu Qin in ep 32 as being too expensive now.

That is crazy! Why would they do that? This is a show and we are watching the characters. Yang Yang is doing an excellent job with Song Yan.

I love both Hidden Love and Fireworks of My Heart. I didn't think I could move on from Hidden Love but I have come to love this show. You will find sweetness after ep 24 I think. I finished A Date With the Future. I will not rewatch the way I do Hidden Love and FOMH, but it was good.

His character is getting a lot of hate but if you look deeper, there is more to it than appears on the surface. He will eventually let go. He does want her to be happy. If you listen carefully to what they both say about their lives, you will understand the analogies of the butterfly and what Xu Qin herself said about being caged. They were both psychologically affected by the mother. Also keep in mind that Xu Qin lost her parents and was in an orphanage before she was adopted by the Mengs. In the book it says that her father was friends with the adoptive father and she lived in fear that if she was not perfect, the mother would send her back to the orphanage. It has a lot to do with her decisions back when she was in college and left to go abroad.

I feel sorry for him too but there are signs that he does not entirely trust her. You need to watch all the little expressions on their faces. I hope he does find his own happiness as Xu Qin told him. He is not a bad person. He grew up in the same household as Xu Qin even though it seems the mother treated him better than Xu Qin but they were both controlled by the mother.

Same! I keep saying I am going to wait till the showed is finished but one peek and I am hooked. I keep rewatching. I did the same with Hidden Love.

She has an agenda. I think he knows she is after his money, and he will never fall in love with her.

He does not love her. She is not a good person.

She is never an angel. Everything she does is calculated.

I wondered if he set it up that the guy would approach him about a business proposition that had to do with plastic surgery and girls who are influencers. It was too coincidental that just after she asked him if he thought she should do plastic surgery, this happens. He is not fooled by her. But then she might be pushing for him to pay for plastic surgery so that she could look more like XQ. She will do anything to win him over for his money. We will find out soon.

He does not look as if he will fall for her. He doesn't even look as if he admires her.

I get the feeling he does not trust her. He does not seem to be fooled. The first time she was his designated driver, he paid her more than expected and told her to take a taxi home. When he threw up he showed some consideration for the cleaners. There is kindness in him. Maybe there is a part of him that feels compassion for her. On the other hand, he does not seem to trust her especially as she told him he broke her vase. Was she expecting some monetary compensation or just trying to get his attention? I am not sure why he is giving her any attention even if his first reaction to her was that she looked like Xu Qin.

Really? I had a bad feeling about her from the very first time. It was ironic when she used the word "opportunistic." I know her actions will lead to a twist later on when a certain person will step forward to help MYC, but I cannot stand looking at her. I hope they give her the minimal screen time to get to the purpose of her role.

MYC is not a bad person. I feel so bad for him and hope the show gives him some happiness by the end. He is still going to have to go through the problem that is YZ. He really just wants XQ to be happy and part of his fear is that his mother will make things difficult for her if she rebels. This is why he asked his mother to stop trying to control XQ.
