But when I watched SY going to visit all her places and seeing into her earlier life, I just put it down to the director wanting him to do this and using this as way to give viewers insight into the details. I do not like that she hurt him after she said she wouldn't. I think she should have stayed and worked with him to fight this by this time.
I don't think she left in the guise of overcoming her trauma. She said she left because she wanted to protect those she loved. This is what she decided to do after she saw the news about his restaurant.

In the book, Sang Yan was upset that she didn't tell him the truth about the evil uncle. When he went to see Sang Zhi , Wi Fan followed him and they talked there in the hotel. The hotel scene in Hong Kong is close to the scene in the book. The director or screenwriter changed it for a purpose.I can't be bothered to be upset over it. . As long as this ends well, I am happy. And this is why I feel they sent her to HK and had him take a walk through her life as it was. How could he be mad knowing all she went through. I am really not sure if I am getting your point. You said everyone is siding with YiFan. I felt more for Sang Yan than YiFan for a while even though I understood her trauma. There was a part of me that felt she really hurt him but then another said she was emotionally traumatized.

I felt Sang Yan's pain and yearning to the core. Bai Jing Ting made is clear.

I saw what you wrote. You wrote that the director didn't focus on Sang Yan's struggles at all and I disagree. I felt his pain and his struggles more than I did YiFan's for a while.

Then why is it I felt Sang Yan's emotions more? It took me a while to connect with YiFan because her emotions were locked up.
