i actually didn’t quite like this one and i’m a huge fan of xianxia lol. their relationship was just so toxic…
It was intentionally written that way (and was much worse in the novel. the drama is downright sappy in comparison) Given the circumstances it makes sense. It starts with him slaughtering everyone and her trying to kill him. 😂
That being said, I would argue that it was less misunderstandings (except for that one big one) and more outright intentionally lying to each other with these two leads haha.
I love that it was so turbulent and messy in that way, but understandably, it's not going to be to everyone's taste. So that's fair enough.
I wanna slap Du Lei from my screen, he got so annoying. His character should’ve been gone after ep 29 when he…
I absolutely love this drama but I would still agree that what they did with Du Lei in the last few episodes was weird. He was an "antagonist" kind of character throughout the whole drama but they turned him full blown insane villain. he seemed to come back to sanity somewhat right at the end but .... still. I really don't think it was necessary that they did that to his character. It was definitely a bit shocking.
This is great!. I love hearing people gush over LYX like we do. Hehe. My mum is kind of endeared to him too now.…
Yeah, for sure! I agree the actors you listed are all handsome in their own ways. I've watched all of them in different dramas before and have appreciated them. (Always thought Xu Kai looked good in Arsenal Military Academy. The republican look was really flattering on him!)
Also agree that LYX is gorgeous in pretty much everything that he has ever been in. (I can still remember the first time I saw him!)
But my friends had never watched C-Drama before so their only exposure was from me sending them clips, photos and making them watch LYX's stuff. So they were just blown away by his beauty. hence the "too pretty to be real" comments from them. It was a compliment. 😂
How's your first week at work Moonies? 🌝🌝🌚🌚For my office, nobody is in the mood to work. All looking…
This is great!. I love hearing people gush over LYX like we do. Hehe. My mum is kind of endeared to him too now. (She likes Bai Lu as well)
I made some friends of mine (who have never watched C-drama) watch tteotm and some stuff from his other dramas and one of them said "he's too pretty to be real" 🤣
I guess we're just going to have to disagree because I felt the marketing was pretty spot on. 😅 Most of the marketing to me, including the trailers, felt like a tragic or at the very least, bittersweet ending was pretty much guaranteed. The marketing & trailers also screamed the adventure and political kind of wuxia. There wasn't that much overt romantic interaction in the marketing. (zero in the first trailer they dropped) If anything, the only thing I was surprised by, was that there was so much comedy in it.... because most of the marketing did not really hint at that until that very last trailer.
That being said, I still felt it was very much a romantic drama too. Just not in the way you were expecting obviously. haha. It has a sweeping romanticism in an old-school kind of way. As I said, their relationship is that of kindred spirits, which in itself, has a great degree of romanticism to it.
I found the fight scenes a lot of fun, but each to their own. I do think they could have been edited differently - with more wide shots instead of so many quick cuts.
I never really liked the title either (as usual, English titles are often lacking) but I do think the title A journey to love still fits. Love of country/the people, love from brotherhood, love of friendship, mentor/mentee relationships, family, soulmates, lovers - all of this is accurate to what the drama was about. The FL especially, started off very alone and she ended it in a place where she felt she belonged and was loved. They may have all died - but they died loved. At least that's how I saw it.
I liked the chemistry between the leads. As well as the chemistry between all of the different characters actually. One of the main things I really liked about this drama was the ensemble feeling, where the bonds between the supporting characters felt important too. It was a "Journey to Love", but I don't think it was about just romantic love. (This includes the leads - though the leads do have a romantic connection, I felt it was a kind of kindred understanding more than anything else) The leads dynamic wasn't "spicy" but that's okay, I like spicy as much as the next person, but this one just wasn't that kind of romance. I still found their bond very believable. I agree there was a period in the middle where the pacing was a bit off. But it was a small period for me. Mostly, I enjoyed it. It was funny in places, dark in others. I also liked the ending. It was what I was expecting going into it to be honest, (I was actually expecting sadder tbh, especially after the trailers were released) and I thought it was beautiful.
I saw many tiktok edits from the princess faking to be a man and thought she was the lead.....but im still intrigued…
I think the chemistry between the leads is good. In fact I think the chemistry between all the different characters is very good. It has a lot of different kinds of relationship dynamics. It definitely has an ensemble feeling and the characters are all quite interesting. The Princess Yang Ying is a very prominent character and she has a wonderful arc throughout the entire drama.
I'm watching my first (I think) Wuxia drama, LBFAD, and loving it. I'm thinking about watching this drama next,…
Both this and lbfad are xianxia.
This one has an open ending. It is both sad/bittersweet and hopeful at the same time. I think it's a lot darker than LBFAD. The relationship between the leads is darker and feels more complicated at times. There are definitely sweet moments too but overall it is darker and angstier. There is definitely some violence and bloodshed but not overly so. (It does have some great fight scenes though) I would also say that TTEOTM has a faster pace too.
I really enjoy both but they are quite different in tone.
Ummmmmmso I kinda don't want them to end up together now cause his obsession is crazy
Yeah, their relationship was never healthy to begin with. haha. She watched him slaughter three realms and has been manipulating and trying to kill him since episode one. It was never a fluffy romance from either side despite their genuine feelings of love for each other.
TTJ is morally grey to begin with and he's a person who has never felt true emotions before. This is a man who only knows emptiness or suffering. It stands to reason that the first time he ever felt love it would turn obsessive. (especially given that he doesn't have the information that Li Susu has, or we as an audience has. He is in the dark. ) He was never going to react well to her death. He was never going to be able to just accept it and let her go (and, as a watcher, I wouldn't want him to...) I thought it was a beautiful showcasing of grief. It can elicit some unhinged behaviour and it's not pretty. I loved it.
A man willing to cremate himself alive because he can't deal with her death? That's a story i'm going to get invested in. And we got an amazing performance by Luo Yunxi as a result.
People still wanted them to end up together because despite it all - they do love each other - , and people want characters to overcome the baggage and conflict and suffering and find happiness. But I get that not every one is going to be able to root for these two crazy kids 🤭
Pang Yizhi died of old age. He was the mortal form of the page boy that JiZe threw from the ShangQing god realm…
We can assume that they are "celestial spirits" and extremely long living but not truly immortal in the same sense as the True Gods were. (An example would be the fact that after 500 years, Tantai Zimi was still only the equivalent of a 5 year old. They age very very slowly. ) Cultivation likely helps extend their lives too. If they were born into the sect like Susu was and was never mortal to begin with, this practice was probably even more innate than it would be for regular mortals.
They are all seeking this "true" immortality. But nobody had managed to attain that for over 10,000 years. this is why Li Susu was practicing the heartless way, (Which she describes as just one of the ways to reach immortality. "The immortal elixir") so that she could ascend and become the only God left.
I don’t know if I should finish this drama so far I love it so much I’m on 27 but I don’t know if I should…
I don't think it's a bad ending. It may be "sad" but it was done well. A sad ending doesn't equate to a bad ending. It was quite beautiful. And to be honest - I don't know how much you know about how it ends but Them ending it this way, is better than some other options in which characters would have to live without the other.
That being said, I would argue that it was less misunderstandings (except for that one big one) and more outright intentionally lying to each other with these two leads haha.

Tteotm will definitely stay in your heart though.

It's even darker in the novel. 🤣
and to all who celebrate!
