My first review ever was because I had to rant on the ML. He is honestly borderline obnoxious and just incredibly full of himself. If he wasn't the central character I'd have wish him dead before the first episode. Everything is so black and white to him and of course he is always right and what not because he knows more than this silly people around him.

I wanna bestow upon the FL using her own hands 1000 slaps in the face while reciting a pledge to renounce her arrogant behavior. I think that would fix her high strung attitude.

The FL is an insufferable twat. She is overbearing and full of herself. After getting swept in the adventure genre of Cdramas and marathoning The Lost Tomb and Candle in the Tomb series, I had to check this one out. First of all I've come to love this genre, LAY is here and my homegirl Wang Zi Xuan is also here. Sadly I had to drop this because the FL is so thoroughly unlikable. She is an antithesis to A Ning in the Lost Tomb or Shirley Yang in Candle in the Tomb. Annoying as hell!

Kinda weird seeing an over 45+ woman acting the part of a young innocent lass. Tiffany Tang is not too far behind. I still think this is still a better method though than have some young actress play their younger selves and they look so unlike each other.

What a dud ending. They tried to portray the FL as some high minded and noble character who has pure intentions toward ML and not just marrying for money. Instead she came off as petty and high strung. ML really should have dump her after her ridiculous test.

I've finished all episodes released and need Wednesday to come quickly. Ju Jing Yi is not my favorite actress by any means but I've actually watched 2 of her dramas this year while they are still airing. I don't even bother waching dramas until they are done.

FL probably only lifted the weight of a pinky in this relationship. Zero contribution from her and frankly I admire the ML for being patient and persevering. I like Bai Lu but the character she plays is about engaging as a block of ice.

The actress playing Consort Shu looks way too young to be Prince Su's mother. In reality she is only 8 years older than Zhang Zhe Han and it really shows. I had to check her age and also because I thought she reminded me off Zhen Huan's sidekick and bff in Empresses in the Palace. And yup she is indeed Consort Hui.

Can't stand the drama and love life of ML's sister. If she, her ex husband and Chu Nan all disappeared I wouldn't have shed a tear. They were annoying as hell. Main leads chemistry were great sadly their relationship was moving at snail pace.

The leads are not a good match. Zhai Zi Lu who had great chemistry with Bai Lu in Lucky's First Love would be a better pair. ML IMO is not handsome enough, Bai Lu actually has a pretty face unlike 75% of FL in Chinese dramas. Her last 3 partners were a perfect fit. This one is not one of them.

Anyone with a half brain would know this has already been filmed. Also this is only her second starring role. The first one was with Arthur Chen who is far worse than her. At this point we can conclude your just plainly trolling. No need for the lousy attempt at sarcasm.

I agree , his character is too mature ,calculative and uptight. He needs to add a bit more youthfulness to his role. He is actually the youngest one here among the leads but he is the one acting way beyond his age. If only he could give some of that maturity and seriousness to the FL. That would have been perfect.

FL is so tiresome and ridiculous. Her antics are neither cute nor funny. If it wasn't for the strong second couple and LYC I would have drop this.

The kid's voices are hilarious. They sound like chipmunks.

Love the 2nd and 3rd ML, great actors and they have very handsome faces.

Ju Jing Yi has really limited acting range. She got the dead eyes, impertinent look down to a t. It's the same look she pulls off everytime she gets inquisitive or doubts someone. She has a pretty face but why do I feel she looks sour all the time. This is pretty much the same acting she did in In A Class of Her Own. These are markedly different characters but she has the same interpretation. Even her overall look is the same with the same distracting red eye shadow. The good thing is she is not screaming all the time otherwise I'd long drop this.

This is my first time watching a drama in the Candle in the Tomb series and I love it. This is a notch above that other adventure drama. This one has a compelling plot, great characterization, excellent cinematography, it's fast paced with no repetitive scenes and above all the tomb raiding aspect is always center of the story. I got confused at first because ML and FL had already met and I didn't realized at first this was a reunion drama for the characters. The first time they met is shown in the Candle in the Tomb drama from 2016. The other ones were set in the Republican era. I am excited to see the sequel when they go to Worm Valley.

The male leads are awesome however the FL is a big NO! I've dropped her last 3 costume dramas because of her silly and bratty acting. I've always followed Yang Yang but my quota for ZLS drama for next year is already filled with The Long Ballad and frankly I will probably never watch another drama where she is the FL.

The last episodes are so annoying and just frustrating. Too much time wasted by the leads bootlicking the useless emperor. FL was actually getting beaten by that two faced Ban Ling Er. She was so much braver when she was a mere circus performer than when she became a noble consort. She spent the last few episodes babbling about sacrifice and duty that went nowhere. She basically lost her edge at the end and became a useless figurehead that parrots high words.

This could have been a good drama had they(the 4 leads)not continued supporting the emperor until he completely turned into a paranoid and inept ruler. I'm pretty sure a mere consort even with the emperor's favor should not be able to contend with the grand commander, a noble consort, and the empress. I got extremely irritated after watching episode 37 where the those three and their longwinding speeches at the court could not even end Ban Ling Er's silly scheme. What a complete joke those three became. I especially dislike the Grand Commander whose is loyalty is borderline fanatical.
