He definitely changes. Even though he was quite abusive to fl, what I liked about his character was him being very clear headed and calculative. He's pretty well rounded, versed in calligraphy, chess, martial arts. He went through military route bc it was a faster way for him to achieve merits and promote. He knew his concubines and maids vyed for his attention and love bc they wanted the benefits he could give (i.e., money, status, power, respect, luxury). He gives as he sees fit and punish those that deserve. He's not black and white guy.

As for fl, she's stubborn and persistent. She tries to escape ml and wants a carefree life from beginning to near the end, even ml's love didn't really change her mind. I enjoy how in public he's this monster, this person that people are afraid and respect, while behind the doors he begs and acts coquettish towards fl.

It's not, but to him he belives so. He loves power, and Simu represents power. The gross part is thinking it's ok to be together with the daughter, whom her father he killed. What right does he have. But again, the plot must go on and he's the antognist.

Now that Simu has returned (that green outfit looks stunning on her). The spirits are now switching sides and flattering her since she's back in power, but she's not being fooled. She doesn't care which side her people stand, what she kow is that she's the most powerful Queen, so she got all the spirits under her control. She's just smirking, seeing everyone their true colour and pretending, watching them like a play.

Just imagine it's a switch of roles where Simu is ml and Duan Xu is fl, then it makes all the sense. In male centric dramas, this almost always happens with fl's they are just a tool to shine ml. Since this drama is fl centric, ml is just a tool. Though I do wish ml is better written bc to me he doesn't play much. For once, it's a drama that idm just watching fl being her own King

At first I thought with Reba's striking beauty and her sharp facial features, it's hard to find a period drama to fit her asethtics, mainly bc she has some European facial features. However, as I watch this drama, being the Soverign really fits her. Her different costumes and hair style is compatible with her beauty. Reba acting has significantly improved, she really fit the arrogant, powerful, haugty character. Her facial expressions are plentiful, able to play a leader/lord, a character trapped in her duties and responsibilities and a child that's never experience the outside world.

I completely gave up, there's too many dramas out there and I'm not going to waste my time and force myself to watch something that completely doesn't interest me. It's already a complete flop in China, they had an online stream promo with the producer there and the producer was crying.

Isnt this the same drama associated to Wang Anyu, about automobiles airing on CCTV with the same director from Knock Out and Xiao Yao. So they are changing the plot to fit TSY bc they want her that badly? Even if they change it, how much of a role will she get when this is obviously male centric. She can definitely take it as a guest cameo, but if it's fl then it's a downgrade fro her past work. I personally hope she doesn't take it bc the plot doesn't interest me one bit.

I don't blame you, it's bc their acting isn't great. It's like children wearing adult clothes. However, if you watched S1, you would most likely have a bit of sentimental value with the characters, knowing what they've gone through. I am curious of how the ending will be since S1 ended with a cliff hanger. I'm just going to skim and gloss this drama until I get the gist of it.

You should tell this to the producers and director. ZLY declined, and there's always been a large fanbase hoping for S2, so they want to still take the opportunity and milk it. The next best thing, to create noise and hype, is to pick someone that was affiliated to the character. Honestly, I can't blame them for picking her, it's a smart move. However, this girl is young, inexperienced, her acting skills haven't been sharpened yet, and her eyes are dull. I can't feel any fierceness or emotions, all she's doing is glaring her eyes in order to look fierce. I feel like I'm watching a kids show. This just goes to show, the acting industry in China is declining, they focus more on hype and money than the actual drama.

Honestly, no one in this drama fits the characters. The girl that plays the princess disappoints me as well. LQ played Chun Er so freaken well. LQ's face has this bright, clean, pureness that she can portray this innocence and naivety of the princess that's been pampered and loved all her life. Because of how the princess grew up, she doesn't know true human nature and the evilness it can be until she first handedly experienced it herself, which turned her in to a victim with a hint of craziness. She needed this craziness to survive and push herself to continue living and getting revenge. I get nothing from this new actress and I have seen her in Fated Hearts. Hah, the coincidence that LQ was fl in that drama, and now she's playing the same character LQ played.

The actor, Jin Han, that played Zhao Xi Feng in S1 was excellent for the role. His face itself, no offence to the actor, looks like an asshole that I want to slap so he was a great pick to play the antagonist. However, a lot of the actors and actresses in this drama are newbs, they all look the same and I can't differentiate who is who. Idc what anyone says differently.

The only character I am intersted is Empress Bian played by Li Meng. She plays the psychotic type role very well, she can also play an antagonist that viewers can pity on (e.g., Blossom). I'm looking forward to her and when she plays another role in Against the Current

I heard there's flashbacks of scenes that have happened in S1, and that it continues where S1 left off/ended. So perhaps it is best to watch S1 first. I mean the whole point of existence for S2 is because S1 did so well, and fans had begged/hopped for S2 (with the same cast)

She's the same actress that played the younger version of Chu Qiao in PA S1. I guess, by choosing her to continue S2 it would be less horrible
